Facebook’s Data Center Energy Team is seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated energy professional to identify, develop, negotiate, and manage renewable energy supply solutions for our global suppliers.The Energy Manager (Renewable Energy Supply Chain) will support the development of Facebook’s supplier renewable energy strategy in partnership with Facebook’s Sustainability team in alignment with Facebook’s Net Zero by 2030 commitment. This effort will include development of partnerships and pathways that will enable Facebook to influence renewable energy adoption by its suppliers and development and execution of Facebook’s global energy strategy centered on a supply portfolio of cost competitive clean and renewable energy sources consistent with the company’s overall strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record for evaluating and influencing creation of renewable energy supply options that can work for a variety of stakeholders and leveraging external and internal partnerships to progress strategic efforts. This would be accomplished by creatively leveraging their skills and significant experience across a spectrum of renewable energy supply issues including finance, commercial, regulatory, market, technical, legal, and tax.
Develop, in partnership with Sustainability, a strategic vision for how Facebook can enable renewable energy adoption amongst its diverse and global supplier base
Collaborate to guide major global suppliers through renewable energy strategy development
Collaborate across the Energy team on the identification, creation, development, negotiation, and execution of opportunities to secure new cost competitive sources of renewable energy for Facebook’s supply chain operations
Lead engagement on influencing the design of new clean and renewable energy supply solutions offered by utilities and other renewable suppliers to enable a broad set of electricity users to participate
Support Net Zero planning and Responsible Supply Chain activities related to suppliers
Develop policy advocacy strategies that can improve the availability of renewable energy options in key regions
Collaborate with internal organizations including sustainability, legal, tax, policy, and finance to implement supply solutions
Develop and grow relationships with key suppliers, developers, regulators, and other stakeholders
Support continued evolution and execution Facebook’s renewable energy supply strategy for the international and domestic supply chain
Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the renewable energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management
Lead and support various energy projects as needed
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (10% to 15%+ at times)
Bachelor's degree in a business, energy, environmental or technical discipline
8+ years experience in developing actionable energy strategy and implementing programs to influence adoption of renewable energy
Experience in developing, acquiring, analyzing, and negotiating definitive agreements for utility scale renewable energy solutions including wind, solar and storage projects
Experience interfacing with suppliers and other stakeholders partners on renewable energy options and pathways
Experience in managing policy and trade associations relationships and driving outcomes aligned to company strategy
Experience in managing multiple projects and collaborating with all internal and external stakeholders and consultants
Experience in leading negotiations and projects
Experience in communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels
MBA or J.D.
Experience in international energy projects and agreements, especially Asia
Experience working with detailed financial models of renewable energy projects, identifying key risks and sensitivities, and leading all related due diligence efforts (financial, commercial, technical, development)
