Defense Programs Business Analyst

Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

In this role, you will work closely with multiple Allison Transmission business and technical teams to analyze complex business opportunities. You will be focused on the Defense Programs’ business objectives, as well as the strategic priorities of the organization to focus on key indicators of performance when dealing with vast amount of data. You will also be responsible for analyzing this data and modelling existing business processes. Some of the key functions of this role will be to perform Defense market analysis, financial analyses and management of current Growth Opportunities for both domestic and international efforts. Additional responsibilities will include process improvements, and various sales support activities, including consignment units, and customer shipments management. It will be important for you to understand the business development processes and be very analytical with problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilizes market intelligence to identify global defense ground vehicle opportunities early in the development phase.

• Aligns market intelligence and assists Sales group with Growth Opportunity development and management.

• Uses complex modeling tools to document the current state of the Defense business as well as the desired future state incorporating new opportunities.

• Performs financial analysis, scopes projects, and works with the project management team to prioritizes deliverables, and negotiate on product functionalities.

• Assist with ensuring export licenses are in place for required customers/programs as required.

• Provides analytic support by coordinating data extraction from various databases and data interpretation.

• Help create and manage defense processes & procedures, coordinating cross-functional input as needed.

• Handle and communicate departmental budget and forecasting.

Key Performance Measures:

• On-time delivery of accurate reporting

• Improve overall business process through delivery of analytics tools

• Department and leadership meetings achieved on regular basis

Competencies and Behaviors:

Required:

• General knowledge of financial forecasting and business case analysis

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.

• Internally motivated, curious, and ambitious with an ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to handle multiple projects and achieve results.

• Proficient in the use of desktop applications to include, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint

• Ability and desire to collaborate and work with partners across the organization at all levels.

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to organize, plan, document projects or assignments, and prioritize work.

Preferred:

• Functional expertise in data modelling software or programs

• Ability to analyze profitability/ROI

• Deep understanding of database structures, theories, principles and practices

• Database design

• Data mining, cleaning, transformation, visualization and reporting techniques

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience

Experience:

Required:

• 3+ years’ of experience in business analyst, financial analyst, data analyst or closely related role

Preferred:

• Proven customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation

• Business analyst experience in a Defense related industry
