Job Summary:

Execute wiring and electrical tasks in both new and existing substations. Perform tasks while maintaining compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes along with all Premier Power policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, maintain, and test commercial, industrial and utility electrical systems in full support of Premier Powers safety, operations, and productivity initiatives

• Measure, cut, bend, thread, etc. and install wire and electrical cable systems, conduit systems and other wire raceway systems

• Feed to, pull into, and terminate wire within control centers, distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switch gear, receptacles, switches, etc.

• Splice and terminate both wire and power cable at junction points

• Troubleshoot electrical systems and build control panels from drawings

• Prepare sketches and schematic diagrams showing the location of wiring

• Communicate effectively with Crew Lead and all Team Members

• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to install electrical apparatus according to manufacturer’s specifications

• Must have knowledge and be willing to perform all aspects of high voltage substation construction

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.

• Use industry related hand tools, power tools and equipment.

• Ability to operate power distribution components, specialized testing tools and diagnostic equipment.

• Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with team members, customers, and vendors.

• Must be willing to take calls and give technical advice outside of the normal workday.

• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems as they arise.

• Must have intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to work independently while utilizing excellent judgement.

• Must have excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.

• Has demonstrated the ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.

• Demonstrates organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.

• Demonstrates the responsibility required to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.

Work Environment:

• Must be willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.

• Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, but depending on the scope of works hours outside of business hours will be required.

• Work in close, but safe, proximity to live electrical substations.

• Must be able to work overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

• Must be able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects.

• Ability to be out in the elements for long periods of time.

• Ability to push, pull, lift, stoop, climb, shovel; work at elevated positions.

• Must be willing and capable of working with your hands and working in the field.

• Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.

Education and Work Experience:

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Military experience is preferred but not required.

• Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical substation construction.

• Completed Substation or Lineman Apprenticeship program is a plus, but not required.

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, education verification, motor vehicle report, physical abilities test, an approved hair and urine drug screen, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and must have or be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs. (CDL preferred)

• Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.

• Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC, OSHA 10 hour, NFPA 70-E, and CPR training.
