About the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR):

The Indiana Department of Revenue team has over 700 staff members from 13 locations across Indiana. We work collaboratively with the Indiana Governor's office, the General Assembly, state agencies, individuals, business owners, corporations, tax practitioners, and tax program participants to administer Indiana's tax laws. DOR administers over 65 tax types and annually processes nearly $21 billion of tax revenue. Our mission is to serve Indiana by administering tax laws fairly, securely, and efficiently.

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $61,022. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview :

The Business Systems Support Analyst will work collaboratively with staff across the agency to conduct research, gather data, define business and functional requirements, and help with data entry and implementation of projects. You will play a key role in the partnership between business technical teams. You will use leadership, expertise, and work products to establish and operate processes that ensure issues are identified, tracked, diagnosed, and resolved. The analyst works to ensure that business needs and plans are successfully integrated with project delivery.

Successful candidates will be positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented, passionate about identifying, designing, testing, and implementing critical functionality and processes, along with proactive quality assurance. We are also seeking an individual with a strong desire to support the Department of Revenue's mission, vision, and Pyramid of Excellence to drive high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement across the agency.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

  • Assist in the development of technical standards and policies for customers, peers, and the organization.

  • Formulate and define system scopes and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of user needs, business systems, and industry requirements.

  • Collect and analyze data and then develop sound reporting to track, recommend, and forecast enhancements to the system.

  • Create process change through the integration of new processes with existing ones and communicate changes to the impacted Business Systems teams.

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with assigned customers to help them meet their business and technical needs.

  • Participate in the development of strategic plans based on customer needs.

  • Analyze business and user needs, document requirements, and devise new technical business system solutions. Or, revise existing system logic difficulties as necessary.

  • Facilitate the delivery of technical business solutions and products to customers.

  • Manage the expectations of customers, peers, vendors, and management. Establish contracts for the procurement of technical business solutions.

What You'll Need for Success:

Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Minimum of two years professional experience in a Business Analyst role preferred.

    Additional qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Proficiency in meeting leadership and facilitation demonstrated by creating a fun, safe, collaborative, and productive work environment.

  • Demonstrated capacity to analyze, understand, and capture business data and act on findings.

  • Creative, disciplined, and thoughtful thinker with a demonstrated ability to adjust work plans to determine the appropriate strategy and approach to success.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and build credibility with business and IT leaders at varying levels of the organization.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Ability to accurately and concisely present proposals and solutions to a wide audience.

  • Proficient in using MS Office suite of products (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, Word).

  • UI/UX experience is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
