Corporate Audit Services serves as the autonomous audit and consulting arm of Eli Lilly and Company, dedicated to supporting the company's goals through a structured and rigorous approach to assessing and enhancing the efficacy of risk management, control, and governance procedures. The Lead Auditor role entails the efficient and effective management of audit engagements and projects. This position oversees cross-functional teams of up to eight individuals on both domestic and international audits, assessing compliance with robust internal control standards and corporate policies and procedures. Responsibilities include assessing risks, setting scope, designing audit programs, coaching and developing teams, sharing key learning across the organization, and making operational improvements. Furthermore, this role will be an active member of process ownership teams in Corporate Audit Services, which are established to collaborate closely with the business in identifying emerging risks and supervising remediation strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Scope and design audits to identify control risks.

  • Lead execution of domestic and international audits in a high quality, timely and efficient manner, consistent with Corporate Audit Services’ procedures and IIA standards

  • Supervise audit fieldwork and serve as coach to team members throughout the audit process.

  • Communicate audit results and prepare the final audit report for distribution.

  • Maintain and develop skills related to current audit policies and practices.

  • Share best practices and make process improvements.

  • Partner with the business via process ownership responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in business financial, internal controls or compliance related experience; this would include previous public accounting, internal audit, or compliance experience

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience with SOx (Finance) and working knowledge of SAP

  • Prefer CPAs or other professional certifications ( CIA, CMA, CFE, CISA, CIPP)

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills

  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Ability to supervise and motivate diverse teams

  • Strong organizational/planning skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management

  • Demonstrated accountability, decision making, and high integrity

  • Demonstrated positive attitude and strong engagement

Other Information:

Position is located at Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis

Domestic and international travel of 15-25% with international trips up to two weeks in duration (including weekend travel).
