Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Assembler II to join its Vertical Assembly & Test group.

What is the job about?

The Assembler II is responsible for all activities as it relates to the diagnosis, disassembly, inspection, testing and modification of pumps, pumping equipment and accessories while adhering to corporate standards and departmental goals and objectives. Position reports to, and will take functional direction from, the Area Production Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (principally Mon-Fri).

Your main responsibilities:

  • Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, trouble-shoot, and repair all pumps; Perform operations such as drilling, tapping, fitting, filing, grinding, and adjusting.

  • Perform layout work required for complex assembly and test set-ups; Checks components for suitability of use; Move material as required.

  • Prepare, assist and/or perform all types of testing; Read, interpret and record test data that meets or exceeds customer requirements.

  • Perform manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval; Provide training and instruction to other employees as required.

  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).

Competencies

  • Excellent written and communication skills including professionalism and strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient using Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Lotus Notes, ERP System (SAP preferred), Intranet/Internet Navigation, Labview

  • Basic knowledge of pumping products, fluid hydraulics, electric and mechanical connections; able to weld (helpful)

  • Able to read and interpret instructions, prints, specification sheets, operation manuals and sheets, charts, tables, etc; Able to use precision measuring instruments, gages and meters.

  • Able to be certified and/or trained in the usage of Forklifts, Cranes, Hazardous Materials and Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Able to use manual, power driven and/or pneumatic hand tools or equipment.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Ability to bend, squat, sit, walk, and stand.

  • Awareness of Quality (ISO) and Safety business initiative

Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations

This role will work closely with Logistics, Test, Mount, Quality, Engineering, and Safety to meet business needs.

Your background

We imagine that you have:

  • Possession of a secondary school diploma, GED, HSE/HiSET or equivalent or a combination of training, education and experience in a similar position in a related field.

  • 2 years experience in a previous environment working with repair and diagnostic testing and/or industrial pump installation (preferred)

Physical and Work Environment

  • This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; twist and reach when assembling parts.

  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.

  • Lifting pumps and/or boxes up to 40 lbs.

  • Able to work in a non-climate controlled factory or field environment.

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
