Bureau Vertias North America Biologist - Indianapolis, IN in Indiana
Position Summary:
The Biologist plays a critical role being responsible for collecting, organizing, and preparing samples for a variety of assay analysis and lab note booking. Other duties include maintaining general laboratory solutions, stocking and mammalian cell culture. A strong enthusiasm and want to learn and grow, as a well as excellent written and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sample preparation (tissue homogenization and RNA, DNA, protein isolations)
Routine sample analysis and method development ( Western blot , ELISA/MSD with reagent prep/labeling, immunoprecipitation).
Familiarity with or willingness to work with automation (liquid handlers, automated Western systems, tube labelers).
Data processing (familiarity with Excel, GraphPad Prism, SigmaPlot, and/or JMP software) and accurately recording lab activities in an electronic notebook.
General laboratory services (inventory, supplies, cleaning, stocking, instrument care and maintenance, and reagent or sample handling).
Must be self-regulated and have high attention to detail for quality and strong organization skills.
Perform other essential tasks projects and responsibilities as required.
Skills & Proficiencies:
Professional, clear and concise communicate required in both written and verbal formats
Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
Experience with Western blots is required.
Cell culture and automation experience is recommended.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Ability to communicate issues as they occur.
Willingness to collaborate with partners across research functions.
Works well both as a team and as an individual contributor.
Strong safety focus and willingness to assist with general lab housekeeping.
Ability and willingness to adapt to changing project needs and timelines and flex plans and responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience:
Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in science
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in highly detail-oriented environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
