Calvary Presbyterian Church Director Of Community Assistance and Mission in Indiana, Pennsylvania

Calvary Presbyterian Church PC(USA) is a Matthew 25 church whose members are dedicated to being active disciples and making a difference in our community and the world. We have recently expanded our outreach opportunities through worship livestream and online technologies to assist in congregational and community communications.

We are seeking a Director of Community Assistance and Mission who will work closely with the Mission Committee and the Pastor to plan and implement distinctively Christian, community programs to help neighbors in need. The primary focus is on local needs but also includes activities for national and global needs as identified by the Presbyterian Church (USA) or related organizations.

This position is in-person during business hours, Monday - Thursday, including occasional evening and Sunday morning church events and activities. Exact days and times can be negotiated.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • The primary focus is on community programs which help our neighbors in need but may also include activities for national and global needs.
  • Facilitate existing mission programs (Angels' Wings, Back to School Bash, CROP Walk, Food Pantry, Little Dresses & Britches Project.)
  • Seek out opportunities to raise awareness of the congregation to the needs of the local community.
  • Work with various committees depending upon particular programs.
  • Maintain clear and direct communication with relevant church leaders and staff members.
  • Ability to write and implement a variety of content to support communications including, print media, e-newsletters, website, and social media.
  • Work with all age groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A solid decision maker -- listens well, gathers necessary information, makes timely decisions,  acts accordingly, and is effective in leading others in the decision making process.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and initiative, work effectively with others to resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledge of local community services.
  • Encourage members to participate in mission projects.
  • Familiarity with the organizational structure of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

BENEFITS AND WAGE

  • Wage varies upon experience. Hourly Rate: $18 - $20.
  • Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week. 
  • 401(K) matching (3%).
  • Paid time off.
