POSITION SUMMARY:

The Irrigation Manager is responsible for all aspects of commercial and residential irrigation services including estimating, scheduling, installation, customer service, troubleshooting irrigation systems, training, and billing. The Irrigation Manager will plan, manage, and direct production and maintenance operations in order to meet budget, safety, and target timeline objectives. This position will regularly interface with clients and suppliers, directly oversee multiple Irrigation Technicians, and will report to the Branch Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the operation of all client irrigation systems, including regular visits, repairs, and seasonal start-ups or protective services.

  • Accountable for proactively serving the needs of customers through the assessment and proposal of irrigation upgrades and/or the use of other beneficial technology.

  • Identifies system problems and acts as subject matter expert to develop solutions and a plan for execution.

  • Performs industry standard irrigation audits for any type of irrigation system, and provides detailed irrigation site assessments.

  • Responsible for all reporting requirements, including _.

  • Directs, organizes, and oversees Irrigation Technicians to assure quality and timely completion of all tasks assigned within safety standards.

  • Assists and guides crew in diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation-related problems.

  • Supervises and trains Irrigation Technicians on proper equipment operation and industry-related updates, and guides overall development of their skill in the field.

  • Ensures crews are sensitive and respectful of company equipment and customer’s property at all times.

  • Responsible for motivating and managing crew to perform tasks within the allotted budgeted hours.

  • Assists in the creation of a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safely and in accordance with company safety procedures.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

  • At least 3 – 5 years of residential and commercial irrigation maintenance/repair experience.

  • Power Limited License preferred but not required.

  • Must have knowledge of two wire irrigation systems and underground sprinkler systems.

  • Must have knowledge of PVC installation and techniques and understand basic pipe sizing and

  • Experience in Aspire Landscape Operating System preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual capability (Spanish) is preferred but not required.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and must have transportation to and from the show up location.

  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information, and perform basic math calculations.

  • Experience in servicing large commercial irrigation systems required.

  • Must be able to operate or use trenching and boring equipment and shovel to prepare trenches.

  • Must have knowledge of PVC installation and techniques.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain successful working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and clients through effective communication, positive attitude, patience, and good follow-through skills.

  • Displays honesty and respect when working with coworkers, contractors, and customers.

  • Acts as a positive example for technicians and contractors especially in regards to promptness, language and dress.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Works around hazardous equipment with moving mechanical parts.

  • Works outside in all weather conditions, including cold, heat, temperature swings.

  • Works around excessive noise from machines, requiring hearing protection.

  • Works in corridors with uneven terrain.

  • Works in restricted spaces with low lighting.

  • May be exposed to nature, i.e. irritating plants and biting or stinging insects.

  • May be exposed to fumes/odors, dust/mites, chemical and/or waste hazards.

  • May be exposed to dogs and other animals.

  • Work may be performed at varying heights above ground.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the ability and endurance to perform tasks for up to 8-hour periods.

  • Must understand and demonstrate proper safety procedures, abiding by all OSHA regulations, with the ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to wear PPE as necessary.

  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.

Rarely: Crawling, climbing on/off truck, climbing poles, gripping, color vision, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, balancing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
