Job Summary:

R3 is seeking an individual to support the Expeditionary Exploitation Unit ONE (EXU-1) travel department and utilization of the Defense Travel System (DTS). The travel specialist works with the EXU-1 N31 operations support division and is responsible for assisting with coordination of travel requests, working in DTS, assist with travel vouchers, and encompasses tasks that support the daily operations of the EXU-1. Additional tasks may include conducting analytical research and supporting the establishment of foundational documents and processes to facilitate the institutionalization of the EXU-1 travel department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing command processes and best practices and provide administrative support and coordination of travel activities to support deploying operational forces.

  • Assist in coordination of travel requests with accountable officials to prevent travel delays.

  • Liaison with operations and other administrative support departments and organizations to advise accountable officials regarding travel related matters; perform review and authorization of travel requests.

  • Provide research and analysis of current and future travel department requirements and contribute to the development of the necessary foundational documents (e.g., standard operating procedures, etc.).

  • Provide support to Organizational and Financial Defense Travel Administrators, Reviewing Officials, and Approving Officials.

  • Assist all travelers to create travel vouchers in a timely manner to reduce delays in processing according to command policy.

  • Assist in executing daily and monthly DTS reports ensuring all processing actions are completed and travelers receive timely payments.

  • Work with DTS, conferring with government task lead on unusual matters. Assignments may be routine or broad in nature requiring originality and ingenuity.

  • Prepare travel orders/vouchers, and similar documents to support travel CONUS/OCONUS within DTS for Military and Emergency Essential Personnel.

  • Establish account in Synchronized Predeployment and Operational Tracker (SPOT) and generate Letters of Authorizations (LOA) for designated CTR travelers.

  • Respond to routine travel inquiries and resolve most travel related issues.

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the Department of Defense Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) ensuring compliance, and experience coordinating travel per U.S. Gov. JTR.

  • Other duties as assigned and/or specified in the contract Performance Work Statement tasks as directed by the R3 Program Manager.

  • Complete annual training requirements (e.g., Cybersecurity Awareness, Insider Threat Awareness, Counterintelligence Awareness and Security Brief & etc.) required by the COR, client, and R3 to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Perform duties effectively with minimal supervision.

    Education and Experience:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree desired, or equivalent work experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the degree requirement.

  • A minimum of five years of related work experience.

  • Preferred ten (10) years US Navy EOD or Diver experience with the described duties.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment (and random) drug screens and background investigation.
