Description

UPM Quality Technician assures that the product supplied to our customers meets the Quality parameters set forth by United Performance Metals and that each shipment conforms to all specified agreed customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

This is an entry-level Quality position.

Compensation is $22-25/ hour depending on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Activities Include:

  • Review product certifications for release acceptance or discrepancy resolution.

  • Receive purchased material in Stratix System.

  • Unloading heavy material from trucks with the use of a forklift.

  • Weighting and measuring materials when received. Must be able to properly use scales, micrometers, calipers, and tape measurer.

  • Breaking down packaging and repacking as needed.

  • Moving material to racking with the use of a forklift or side-loader forklift.

  • Moving material with the use of an overhead crane or portable crane.

  • Apply and release quality hold status of the product as applicable.

  • Scan certifications and testing reports into the operating system.

  • Identify and quarantine nonconforming material.

  • Inspect and resolve questionable material issues involving product integrity.

  • Conduct inspection of product when required or requested. Assist with inspection layout, set-up as needed.

  • General housekeeping in accordance with the quality expectations.

  • Maintain customer property within established procedures.

  • Maintain a full understanding of United Performance Metals' Quality Manual, Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions: How they relate to AMS, ASTM, AISI, AS9100 and ISO-9001 Requirements.

Additional Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To:

+ + Process and administrate requests for certification updates.

  • Understand and apply measuring techniques with internal operating procedure and equipment.

  • Schedule meetings, as needed, to resolve non-conforming and process issues.

  • Investigate and resolve non-conformities.

  • Assist with the quality orientation for new employees.

  • Support sales with certification and compliance requests.

  • Support operations and production with order and material-technical needs.

  • Maintain AMS/UPM specification spreadsheet used to verify the compliance of mill test reports.

  • Oversee the inspection and measuring of test equipment.

  • Maintain identification of the testing equipment and documentation providing traceability and calibration frequency.

  • Initiate and maintain the ongoing assessment and approval of subcontractors.

  • Perform periodic audits of suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Responsible for administration of appropriate customer release program.

  • Assist as needed with compliance audits.

  • Maintain required customer approval and certification.

  • Fill out and respond to customer survey requests.

  • Assist as needed with customer and regulatory audits.

  • Continued education and training of metals applications, industry requirements, and customer focus activities.

  • Assist as needed with internal audits.

  • Maintain and report on shelf-life sensitive items that are maintained in inventory to ensure the products are not expired beyond use.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience

Material handling skills, experience using a Forklift and Overhead Crane

At least 1-year Quality related experience and/or training

Supplier-required certificates – i.e., GE DSQR, PWA SDRA

Aerospace experience
