Position Title: Multi-level Waste Pkg & Trans Eng

Work Location: INTEC

Shift Schedule: Monday Thursday 4x10s

Salary Grade: 17 Salary Range: Min \$92,785 Mid \$115,985, Max \$144,985

Salary Grade: 18 Salary Range: Min \$104,970 Mid \$131,060 Max \$164,125

Salary Grade: 19 Salary Range: Min \$118,305 Mid \$147,885 Max \$185,000

Position Purpose:

Provides leadership role in managing work scope and funding for Packaging & Transportation (P&T) Department compliance activities, including scope justifications, and processing, monitoring, and tracking of changes. Identifies and negotiates for resources, including matrixing resources into the department to complete work scope. Acts as the company expert for hazardous material packaging. Develops and issues program guidance to resolve packaging issues. Meets quality requirements for vendor selection in procuring hazardous packaging, including development of radioactive material packaging specifications. Assists with management of transport plans and coordinating company safety-base reviews to meet 10 CFR 830 requirements.

Leads project efforts from the conceptual stages through planning, design, engineering, procurement, testing, and project closeout. Supports company work scope and provides for project engineering expertise in either a functional or matrix capacity.

Supports department manager in various departmental administrative initiatives. Serves as organization spokesperson on specialized topics within area of expertise.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):

Salary Grade 17: Bachelor degree in related field with minimum of 8 years experience.

Salary Grade 18: Bachelor degree in related field with minimum of 12 years experience.

Salary Grade 19: Bachelor degree in related field with minimum of 15 years experience.

Special Requirements/Training:

Extensive knowledge of DOT, DOE, and ICAO rules and regulations. Maintains hazardous material packaging engineer qualification and meets regulatory training requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

Develops and issues safety documents for on-site movements of radioactive materials compliant to the Transportation Safety Document (TSD)

Provides technical leadership and makes project or specific task assignments to less experienced engineers.

Provides engineering and direction for packaging activities related to shipping hazardous and radioactive materials.

Provides expertise for DOT packaging determinations and interpretations.

Provides system engineering responsibilities and determinations for department-owned certified packaging, including professional engineer approvals.

Develops and approves engineering design files to document processes supporting safety or compliance decisions.

Leads project efforts, supports company work scope, and provides for project engineering expertise in either a functional or matrix capacity.

Maintains knowledge of DOT, NRC, EPA, and DOE regulations relative to packaging rules and requirements for hazardous and radioactive materials.

Prepares monthly work scope and progress reports; conducts management assessments or reviews to determine program health.

Prepares department direct-funded work packages, tracks costs and schedule, and reports variances for necessary adjustment, as appropriate.
