Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fire Department Health and Safety Officer (Division Chief). You will work a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area, located approximately one hour from Idaho Falls.
Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluates performance of implementing processes, training, personnel, and equipment capability in assigned area(s) of emergency services delivery. Deliver training lesson plans and functions as lead instructor for hazardous training activities in coordination with operations supervisors. Responds to emergencies in Incident Command System General Staff capacity supervising operations, executing incident planning, or performing incident safety functions.
- Coordinate and manage activities of other staff with respect to program areas of responsibility.
- Develop and implement the overall strategies for the fire department and the surrounding communities in areas of responsibility.
- Serve as an INL fire department liaison and spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans and objectives with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to regional partners.
- Subject matter expert (SME)/program manager for any fire department functions related to assigned areas and shall establish policy, give direction, coordinate, and manage activities of others with respect to program areas of responsibility.
- Develop and grow line firefighters through regular observation, coaching, and reinforcement of desired behaviors. Establish and execute effective performance evaluations. Collaborate/communicate definition of expectations and priorities, feedback on performance, and related leadership.
- Manage fire department procedural development and change control processes, including coordination of document management requirements. Manage all documents in EDMS and all fire department Data. Manage all fire departments reports to include but not limited to – all incident reports, MRM, AAR, lessons learned, HPI, events, and investigations.
- Evaluate programmatic procedures to ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, and national fire codes, laws, and requirements.
- Participate in required department training and actively participate in safety and quality programs.
- Respond to INL emergency incidents and perform assigned incident management functions.
- Assist with organizational strategic planning and shall establish goals and objectives that implement Emergency Services Division goals, objectives and expectations and integrate with fire department divisions and programs.
*Minimum Requirements: * * Level 3: Bachelor’s and 5 years of experience OR Master’s and 2 years of experience OR 11 years of experience in lieu of degree. * Level 4: Bachelor’s and 9 years of experience OR Master’s and 6 years of experience OR 15 years of experience in lieu of degree. * EMT-B (NREMT and/or State of Idaho) required. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

- The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($75,804 - 155,496) / Level 4 ($91,008 - 186,588). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
