Microsoft Corporation Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) Lead in Hyderabad, India

Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) team delivers high quality servicing experiences to keep Microsoft customers protected and productive by continuously building and delivering Windows Operating System updates to consumer, enterprise and Microsoft Cloud customers.

Windows Server and related components provide platform capabilities such as Authentication, Network administration, data storage and management and are an integral and critical part of the IT infrastructure for many large and small Enterprises across the globe. Along with our virtualization capabilities, seamless integration with Azure, Windows Server and Hybrid Cloud Networking components are indispensable for companies towards running their business. As a Technical PM Lead, you will lead a team that leverages these capabilities in driving quality updates to Windows Operating System and ensuring that Microsoft Customers are protected and productive.

This Prinicipal Program Manager Lead role represents an opportunity to develop and operate a massive planet-scale Servicing charter of protecting our customers and Microsoft cloud infrastructure while also building and supporting new businesses and business growth across the company. This role will lead a team of high performing team of Technical Program Managers that partner with Software Engineers for servicing all in-Market versions of Windows OS across multiple components such as Windows Server, Active Directory, High Availability Services, Hybrid Storage, Core File Systems, Network Security & Containers, Printing, Peripherals and IoT.

The ideal candidate is a technical leader, a great coach who can bring the best of a very talented group of Program Managers and Engineers across the globe. He/ She would be able to attract, develop, and grow talent through empathy and establishing clear accountability. A leader that is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, working effectively in a matrix organizational structure, building partnerships and managing stakeholders across the globe, making decisions, and defining clear measurements (OKRs), leading innovation, and enabling continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • You will be a leader of a team of high-performing Program Managers, fostering a diverse and inclusive, results-driven team with a thriving culture.

  • Lead the design, implementation and modernization of servicing technologies.

  • Deliver alignment across WSD and partner organizations to ensure the team understand, align, and deliver on shared goals

  • Build strong partnership across the global teams towards successfully meeting the overall Org charter and goals

  • Investigate and understand customer scenarios and expectations in depth, using telemetry/data, customer feedback. Ensure SLAs and other KPIs are met on a consistent basis.

  • Drive and contribute to the global quarterly Planning exercises factoring capacity and demand and aligning to the strategic priorities.

  • Orchestrate (plan, prioritize, and program manage) the work of a team of engineers to deliver features, fixes, and security updates on time and on quality per the OKRs

  • Ensure continuous improvements in the quality, reliability, and performance of servicing payloads.

  • Manage schedules, risks, and issues with effective communication with the team, to senior management and company executives, and partners inside and outside Microsoft.

  • Drive executive reviews and communication with leadership and stakeholders per agreed upon cadence

  • Drive innovation aligned to organizational goals, strategic priorities, and divisional big bets.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Experience leading or partnering with SDLC teams towards delivering software products and services at-scale.

  • Experience with managing complex software product development with Agile methodologies.

  • Experience with Systems software such as device drivers, communication protocols, kernel modules etc.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of AI, BI/ Analytics

  • Technically and sufficient business-savvy to interface with all levels and disciplines within the organization, from engineers to executives.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ or more years of relevant experience and a degree in computer science or related field; advanced degrees in CS or business administration a plus.

  • Experience with Cloud – Azure, AWS, GCP.

  • Effective leadership and high integrity in applying a growth mindset to learn from experience and build trust within your team and with external partners.

  • Proven ability to derive clarity from ambiguity, and direct teams to deliver effective solutions.

  • Propensity for maintaining objectivity and balanced judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments.

  • Proven ability to learn and apply that learning to improve business outcomes and drive positive impact for the team and for your career
