The Engineering function is responsible for all engineering activities within the firm to ensure that business objectives are met. Includes the creation, development, design, and improvement of products, equipment, facilities, services, standards, and procedures in all engineering fields.

The primary responsibility of this job is to ensure the growth of the organization’s technology portfolio through concept/idea formulation and prototype development in line with the business strategy, requirement, and specifications. These individuals participate in the evolution and development of new innovative architectures and methods to maintain, upgrade, replace and improve the long-term performance of the existing architectures. They will be required to interact with development teams, Project Managers and Business Analysts and create and/or translate business requirements into executable plans.

What you'll be doing

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Junior Linux Engineer with main focus on Patching - - Preferred RedHat certification.

·Knowledge and the ability to perform software installations/patching of operating systems.

·Professional familiarity with Configuration Management Tools such as the following:

Ø CFEngine

Ø Puppet

Ø Chef

Ø Salt

Ø Ansible

·Knowledge of the Linux kernel and kernel modules.

·Ability to troubleshoot

-Solve problems by addressing the root cause of the issue.

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·Ability to learn and evaluate new technologies.

·Ability to perform presentations to customer/client audiences

·Log/system review for resolution or escalation of issues.

·Ability to identify tasks that should be automated and then write tools to automate them.

·Solid understanding of the Linux/Unix-based operations system.

Ü System analysis

ü System performance tuning

ü Load Balancing

Ability to program in at least 2 languages (shell, Perl, Ruby and Python)

Understanding of networking.

Understanding of Virtualization and the ability to manage virtual machines.

Understand enterprise monitoring tools and management frameworks

·Experience with professional change management processes and procedures.

Understanding and ability to work within a highly available environment, including but not limited to financial, government, and medical landscapes.

·Familiarity with open-source tools, bug tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with security updates to alleviate potential exploits.

Ability to perform system and file recoveries using the company's standard backup solution.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology/Computing (or demonstrated equivalent work experience)

• Certifications relevant to the services provided (certifications carry additional weightage on a candidate’s qualification for the role)

Required Experience:

• Entry-level experience or completion of the relevant intern program

• Entry-level experience managing platforms including a combination of the following: -

• Server Administration, Linux Server Administration, Virtualization Administration, Server Hardware and Storage Administration

• Basic knowledge of management agents, redundancy concepts, and products within the supported technical domain (i.e. Network, Data Centre, Telephony, Exchange, Storage, Cloud, Backup, etc.)
