City of Hutchinson PRCE Facility Maintenance Technician in Hutchinson, Minnesota

AQUATIC CENTER 1. Regularly inspects the condition of the Aquatic Center and documents any necessary facility, equipment, and custodial repairs. Follows up in correcting any problems. 2. Inspects, maintains, cleans, and repairs the pools, slides, pool chemistry systems, and all associated components. 3. Inspects and assists with the mechanical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and related components at the Aquatic Center. Reports any deficiencies to the PRCE Facilities Maintenance Manager. 4. Maintains basic physical condition of the Aquatic Center with a high degree of quality and attention to detail including tile, equipment, paint, grout, caulk, walls, lighting, etc. 5. Reports accurate maintenance reports to the PRCE Facilities Maintenance Manager. 6. Inspect and maintain all outdoor lighting, electric, and plumbing systems. 7. Assists in operating the Aquatic Center in compliance with the State of Minnesota Health Department Pool/Spa Codes. 8. Administers and documents pool water tests in accordance with applicable codes and adjusts pool equipment as needed to maintain correct water balance. 9. Assists in maintaining long-term equipment and inventory plans. ICE ARENAS AND RECREATION CENTER 1. Operates, maintains, and assists with repairs ice arena refrigeration system and machinery. 2. Performs facility maintenance including all interior and exterior building maintenance and repairs. (painting, washing, etc.) 3. Inspects equipment to detect wear and damage and perform repairs, adjustments, or maintenance tasks. 4. Operates the ice resurfacing and edging equipment. 5. Maintains records on all ice arena maintenance activities. Conducts daily checks on refrigeration equipment, Zamboni, and systems and performs required air quality tests. 6. Provides custodial services necessary to keep the building clean, safe, and in good functioning order, including cleaning locker rooms, restrooms, floors and carpets, bleacher areas, glass, removing trash, replenishing supplies, and snow removal. 7. Responsible for the installation and removal of the hockey rink boards/glass and the installation and removal of other floor surfaces. Sets up and takes down athletic equipment for recreation contests and events. Assists with setting up and clean-up of the facility, including proper storage of supplies. 8. Maintains decorative areas such as flower beds, shrubs and other landscaping. Performs turf maintenance including mowing and weeding of Arena/Recreation Center grounds. 9. Directs work of seasonal staff during scheduled shifts. 10. Monitors the inventory of the necessary cleaning equipment and supplies and reports to the manager for reordering. 11. Welcome the public, provide helpful answers, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. 12. Performs opening and closing of the facilities. Collects admission and secures all collected monies. Supervises buildings and grounds during public usage. OTHER DUTIES 1. Leads and directs the work of intermittent and seasonal employees at Burich Arenas and Recreation Center/Aquatic Center 2. Prevents accidents and allows for the enjoyment of all patrons through fair and consistent enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of individuals using the facilities. Completes any necessary paperwork including accident/incident reports, season pass forms, and time records. 3. Oversees lost and found items receptacle. 4. Participates in PRCE work teams as needed and assigned. 5. Follows all city policies and procedures, including exceptional safety standards. Attends all required safety trainings and staff meetings. 6. Drives City vehicles as required. 7. Performs other duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT All related maintenance and custodial equipment, ice resurfacing equipment, ice edger, floor scrubber, personal computer, telephone, basic office equipment, and City vehicles. WORKING CONDITIONS Regular full-time position 40 hours per week. Considerable contact with he public. Generally, indoor work may involve temperatures required for an ice arena, outdoor pool, and indoor gymnasium. Occasionally, working in all types of weather conditions and noise levels may be necessary. WORK SCHEDULE Typical hours will be 2:00 pm-10:00 pm. Scheduled hours will vary to cover facility needs and events. On-call work hours are required. Must respond within 30 minutes to alarms and emergencies while on-call. Ability to regularly work nights/weekends and holidays with varied shift start and end times throughout the year.
