Provide System Engineering and Integration (SEI) expertise to the Systems Design and Definition Branch/EV72 in support of the Moon-To-Mars (M2M) program for the development of the core capabilities needed to support the lunar surface missions. This support includes the Modeling Architecture, Verification and Validation, Requirements, Interfaces and ConOps (MAVRIC Team necessary to integrate across the M2M Programs/Projects and to define and document mission integration requirements. Personnel will assist the Programs/Projects Office with the development of the big-picture architecture. This includes having an open-minded approach to soliciting stakeholder needs, goal, and values with an evolving architecture. Support includes coordinating and interfacing with engineering, program office, Moon2Mars Program Integration Leads, and customers as well as participating in reviews, meetings (i.e. team/discipline, TIMs, teleconferences, etc.), working groups and trade studies. Support requirements integration of mission specific analyses along with general assessments of systems, missions, and resulting architecture to recommend solutions, forward work, and potential trade studies. Specific support to be provided and performed includes, but is not limited to, the following: Provide SEandI expertise, and big-picture integration support for enterprise level "End-to-End" Interfaces Management: o Perform Interface Requirement Development and help manage across different organizations. o Development of traceability between interface requirements, architecture, configurations, and verification plans. o Integrated testing verification planning and execution via working groups. Perform assessments of proposed systems concepts across multiple programs/projects. Communicate and share data openly, and develop vetted/integrated architectural-level assessments, which requires: o Consolidating diverse data sets from a variety of sources o Analyzing data for implications, impacts, and trade-offs within our Technical Baseline (and associated processes) o Understanding how practical constraints define a decision-space of possibilities Perform technical integration across multiple NASA Centers, diverse engineering and program/project organizations, and a variety of engineering disciplines. Lead the integration of mission specific analyses to assess the enterprise level performance and requirements, and to develop scenarios, approaches, and concepts of operation. Provide similar systems engineering and integration support for the Argonaut lunar cargo lander as requested by the M2M Program. Serve as a member of MAVRIC team and learn/use the Lunar Exploration Architecture Framework (LEAF), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) digital system model to depict the logical and physical architecture for the Artemis Campaign.

Job Requirements: A degree in mechanical, aerospace, or systems engineering or a degree in a related technical discipline as well as experience supporting requirements development, space mission planning, or the development of integration requirements supporting the ISS, SLS, or equivalent DoD programs is required. Degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of an MS degree with at least 13 years of experience, or BS with at least 15 years of experience. The candidate is required to have: An understanding of space systems concept definition, functional requirement development, and/or design integration requirements development, interface management, and validation and verification. Mathematical skills and the ability to perform analytical assessments of vehicle systems, subsystems, and components. Ability to breakdown complex problems or issues into manageable pieces to facilitate resolution of technical concerns. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills are required. Intermediate skills using Micro oft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook). Desired (presence of one or more of these qualifications will be used as discriminating factors in selecting applicants): Experience negotiating and coordinating high-level agreements with principals, developers, and stakeholders. Familiarity with the Gateway Program, the Human Lander System program, or the Artemis program. An understanding of the NASA/contractor environment and NASA systems engineering processes.
