Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) seeks to fill the position of Staff Engineer Systems leading a diverse team of NGC and sub-contractor personnel with the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract in support of the Missile Defense Agency.
The qualified applicant will perform as the Sites Lead for the GMD team, the position is in Huntsville Alabama. In this role, you are responsible for oversight of all fielded site maintenance and scheduling for the IFICS Data Terminal, Ground Fire Control, and Ground Node Equipment systems, technical guidance for any anomalies, assisting with and coordinating site upgrades. You will support staffing and professional development the team. The qualified applicant will manage internal as well as customer deliverables and will support process development and improvement. Be responsible to the Program Manager supporting Program development activities as well as assisting with understanding field contractual requirements. This position requires collaboration and teambuilding across multiple program IPTs, sub-contractors, and extensive customer interface.

Additional Responsibilities include:
Interface with the MDA customer at each site
Maintain GMD assets in a manner of system availability over 99% to the customer
Provides performance evaluation input for sub-contractor evaluations, property control, facility, safety, security, and daily production and directs the work of employees assigned from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas related to the GFC, IDT, and GCN.
Report all anomalies/ incidents IAW standard maintenance policy and procedures
Provides remote management oversight to remote site teams
Support customer site visits and provide briefings on upgrades and obsolescence issues.
Attend site and program specific meetings, develop slides, charts, and white papers for decision making.
Support the Ground Weapons Systems (GWS) products hardware / software integration, upgrades and repair requirements
Ensure Cyber requirements such as software patching and anti-virus updates according to contract and SOW requirements are completed in a timely manner
Provides personnel and resource management of each of the site teams
Travel will be required approximately 40% of time.
Basic Qualifications - To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical Engineering or related discipline with 12 years of related experience. Master’s Degree in technical Engineering or related discipline with 10 years of related experience.
4 years of leadership as a technical lead or related team leadership role or 2 years experience as a manager in a related discipline
Active Secret Security Clearance and ability to obtain COMSEC and TS/SCI Clearance required.
Knowledge of local area networking (LAN) fundamentals with specific experience working with Ethernet routers, switches, and protocols in TCP-IP based communications system.
Experience with Earned Value Management or leadership with program budget/ cost execution
Experience with contract proposals, statement of work development and negotiations
Experience with Risk and Opportunity Management
Experience with Supply Chain processes and procedures
Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work unsupervised at a remote site and interface with a diverse group.
Ability to travel up to 40% of time as needed.
Preferred Qualifications - Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
Experience with GCN, GFC, and IDT products, development activities, and program management experience.
Ability to manage multi-site coordination efforts concerning installation of new systems or program milestone events
Experience with /understanding of KG-175 Taclane operations
IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) hardware/software experience or attended IDT specific schooling or System Administrator duties
Extensive knowledge of Network Infrastructure
Extensive knowledge of the Ground Fire Communications systems
Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings
Experience with Windows/UNIX / Oracle/ Redhat applications desired.
Process orientation and strong skills in using and following documented processes / checklists.
Willing to work flexible schedule to maintain operational capability.
Knowledge of maintenance, logistics, and calibration requirements for fielded systems
Salary Range: $163,200 - $244,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
