Jacobs ESSCA Group Senior Systems Engineer #ADV0008W7 in Huntsville, Alabama

Provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SEandI) support to the Systems Planning and Technical Leadership Branch (EV71), the Spacecraft Integration and Integration Evolution (SPIE) Payload Adapter (PLA) Engineering Integration Lead, and the SPIE Element Office.

Specific support to be provided and performed involves, but is not limited to:

Providing definition and traceability of the design and construction requirements.

Developing and maintaining detailed requirement specification documents related to the PLA system and components including:

o PLA Requirements Document for the Crewed Configuration

o Data Acquisition Unit

o Payload Separation System

o Secondary Payload support systems (Avionics Unit and Dispenser)

Supporting verification and validation planning of the PLA design and construction requirements.

Developing and leading the implementation of required requirements and the creation of design review plans.

Defining, planning, and executing milestone, sync point reviews, and design reviews including the development and definition of entrance and success criteria for these milestone reviews/check point events.

Negotiating interfaces with the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS), Payload Integration (PI) and the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) teams.

Providing Risk Management support including the identification and tracking of risks.

Assisting the SPIE B1B Alt. LSE to prepare for B1B milestone reviews as well as the subelement reviews that occur along the way.

Supporting the Integrated Spacecraft and Payload Element (ISPE) technical and programmatic reviews on behalf of PLA.

Development of model-based systems engineering products including requirement and verification traces, architectures and concepts of operation, and model-based reviews

Job Requirements:

A degree in aerospace, mechanical, systems engineering, or a related engineering field or discipline with at least 15 years of experience in space vehicle hardware design, definition of interface, design, and verification requirement, development of operations concepts, and/or hardware acceptance reviews is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. The successful candidate must have experience developing and documenting systems engineering processes and/or procedures associated with aerospace flight and ground hardware design, development, production, test, verification, evaluation, integration, and/or operations.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in project planning and technical integration.

Experience reading/interpreting/understanding hardware engineering drawings.

Experience supporting, organizing, or leading technical/milestone reviews and discussions.

Outstanding negotiation and collaboration skills demonstrated through the resolution of complex technical problems.

Capability to breakdown complex problems or issues into manageable pieces.

Excellent written and oral technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly define and describe a technical subject to peers across various engineering disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with hardware production which preferably included working with the manufacturing of composite materials, structures, or components.

An understanding and knowledge of the current SLS program and a working understanding of the SPIE ISPE and EUS interfaces.

Knowledge of model-based systems engineering applications such as MagicDraw, Cameo, or DOORs NexGen (DNG).

Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering and NASA Risk Management policies and procedures related to technical management.

Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills.

Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
