The successful candidate will independently analyze | | and recommend design features that meet safety criteria in system | | design to control or eliminate hazards. This position is located in | | Huntsville, AL. | | | | The tasks include, | | | | - Active participation in the design of products/systems, | | associated support equipment and facilities. | | - The creation of functional specifications and establishes safety | | requirements for assigned systems. | | - Developing safety documents, as required, to support customer and | | test/operational range requirements and performing audits of | | operational areas and reporting on the effectiveness of system | | safety program. | | - Evaluating the interrelationship of system safety requirements | | and other aspects of concept design and development requirements | | to ensure the most cost-effectiveprogram. | | - Expertise in the application of MIL-STD-882E in design | | development. | | - Experience in the generation of required artifacts such as System | | Safety Program Plans, System Safety Analysis Reports and | | Functional Hazards Analysis Reports. | | - Experience in the application of safety principles and methods to | | mature the weapons systems design for safety and support flight | | test and flight worthiness of complex systems. | | | | Required Experience: | | | | - Strong written and verbal communication skills of the English | | language | | - Experience using MIL-STD-882E for design development | | | | Required Minimum Education/Experience: | | | | - 13 years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 10 years with | | a master's degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, | | computer science, aeronautics, safety or a closely related | | technical discipline. | | | | Preferred Experience: | | | | - Software development or coding experience | | - Experience using DO-178 for design development | | - Associate Safety Professional (ASP) /Certified Safety | | Professional (CSP) Certificate | | - Weapon system experience (Minuteman III or similar military or | | industry experience) | | - Model Based Systems ngineering(MBSE)experience | | - Military range safety experience | | - Able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) | | | | Security Clearance Requirement: | | | | - Active DoD Secret clearance obtained within the last 6 years | | | | Work Environment: | | | | - Office environment. | | - Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely | | communication, both verbally and written. | | - Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, | | and customers. | | - Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) 15 lbs. | | | | Other Essential Functions: | | | | - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make | | rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement. | | - Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not | | impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others. | | | | About A-P-T Research | | | | A-P-T Research, Inc., is an engineering services company with | | employees who combine excellence in their disciplines with | | enthusiasm, versatility, and willingness to "pitch in" wherever | | needed to support customers, and to perform the many functions of a | | small company.
