Koniag Management Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Red Hat Linux Systems Engineer Mid-Level with a Secret Clearance to support KMS and our government customer in Huntsville, AL. This is a Hybrid position requires 3 days onsite.

Koniag Management Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Linux Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have mid-level experience managing Linux systems in an enterprise environment, with a specific focus on deploying and supporting RedHat Servers and Ansible Automation Platform. This individual will be responsible for creating code-based solutions to configure systems efficiently. Strong communication skills, leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Government Customer with the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and improvements of systems and ensuring maximum availability, performance, and security.

  • Assist the Government Customer with the design, implementation, and administration of Red Hat Linux Servers in virtualized and cloud environments.

  • Managing systems within a mixed Windows/Linux environment, with a primary focus on deploying and supporting RedHat Servers (RHEL) and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).

  • Creating/configuring baseline playbooks, projects, and templates in Ansible Automation Platform.

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Red-Hat patching, NFS, user administration, Sudor access, LDAP client, disk administration (LVM/XFS/ext3/ext4), and technologies.

  • Assist with the planning and application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on remote and on-prem hosts to ensure security compliance.

  • Assist the Government Customer with administration activities to deliver high availability for all server resources while ensuring confidentiality and integrity of the environment.

  • Assist with monitoring the health, performance, and operational trends to proactively identify issues before they become incidents.

  • Assist with providing support for incidents, service requests, and problems through their full life cycle.

  • Experienced team members will be assigned to new hires for one-on-one mentoring, collaborative reviews, and coaching on customer engagement to help each new hire successfully onboard and demonstrate their skills

  • Collaborating with the development and operations teams to support infrastructure needs.

  • Implementing and managing system backups and disaster recovery plans.

  • Producing technical documents and engineering diagrams.

  • Assist other team members in other specialties as needed to accomplish the overall mission.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • REQUIRES a minimum Interim Secret Clearance and eventually obtain a fully adjudicated Secret Clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems and 4 years of experience in managing Linux Red Hat systems in an enterprise environment or 8+ years of equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge of security best practices in server configuration, tool development, and access controls.

  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement efficient solutions utilizing Ansible Automation Platform across RHEL, Windows, and VMware operating systems.

  • Maintain VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure that includes ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN.

  • Ability to manage, operate, and monitor Tomcat based applications, Apache Web, NGINX, IPSec, SMTP, DNS, and SSH

  • Strong user management skills through the command line and an understanding of Linux/AD authentication.

  • Ability to interpret and utilize scripting (e.g. Python, Bash, Shell, etc.) to automate and streamline system administration.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the management and configuration of SELinux & fapolicyd.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – including the ability to develop solutions in new and creative ways.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement software patches and update fixes for critical CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) to maintain software security.

  • Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Adept at working independently, but also in a team environment.

  • Must either possess or obtain a Linux computing environment training certificate in compliance with DoD 8140. Must be willing to attain Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification within 6 months.

  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification is required (at least one of the following- CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP and CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent).

Desired Skills, Certifications, and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).

  • Understanding of ITIL framework and IT service management.

  • AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud computing experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of single sign-on (SSO) concepts using SAML and OAuth2

  • Understand continuous integration and continuous deployment processes.

  • Work with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.

Desired Certifications:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Developing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals AZ-900 OR AWS Certified Cloud P

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
