Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Contracts Manager 3 to join its team of qualified and diverse individuals supporting its Launch and Missile Defense Systems team. This is a unique opportunity to build experience, mentoring relationships, and career growth by contributing to the Contracts role . This position is in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate:

  • Will produce high quality Contract Management related products supporting the NGSP Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) Division, Missile Defense Solutions (MDS) Business Unit (BU), Missile Defense Weapons Systems (MDWS) Operating Unit (OU), as the OU Sr. Contracts Manager. Will be a direct report to the MDS BU Sr. Contracts Manager and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the OU Program Managers/Directors, Business Managers, Operations Managers, Capture Managers, and functional teams throughout the OU.

  • Responsible for the direct supervision and management of approximately six (6) contract administration/staff personnel, contracts within the OU’s business portfolio, and the OU’s proposals and captures.

  • Required to provide objective-oriented direction utilizing management guidelines & general policies and maintain a strong level of engagement, while dynamically leading, motivating and developing a team of contract professionals. Ideal candidate is a team player; but also, a strong independent contributor with strong leadership skills, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

  • Contracts Manager 3 will be required to deal effectively with competing priorities and deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

  • Must possess the ability to work well with others in high-stress high-volume situations, effectively interface with internal functional and program organizations, and meet the goals/objectives of the MDWS operating unit.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Making decisions in a timely manner, offering guidance and working collaboratively with a multitude of organizations ranging from technical, program, finance, supply chain, legal, and security for seamless contract administration.

  • Building strong customer intimacy and engaging with employees.

  • Reviewing and responding to large dollar/complex RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, and conducting customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment.

  • Reviewing process specifications, progress, and other reports; advising management o f contractual rights and obligations; compiling and analyzing data; and maintaining historical information.

  • Preparing bids/proposals, administering, extending, negotiating and terminating standard and nonstandard contracts in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.

  • Examining estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Reviewing and approving contractual documents for protection of the company's contractual/risk posture, and satisfying contractual requirements.

  • Planning and executing successful contract negotiations of a complex nature and achieving targeted profit rates as well as favorable terms and conditions to assist in meeting profit and cash goals.

  • Providing guidance and direction based upon the requirements of the contracts, change management discipline and to ensure timeliness of CDRL submissions.

  • Managing the OU Contracts Team’s audit actions/responses to also include identification of training topics to improve audit results in the future.

  • The Sr. Contracts Manager must be a role model for diversity and inclusion by seeking out and including diverse opinions and perspectives. They must have the ability to solve complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources. It is key that the Contracts Manager has the ability to provide concise and effective communication through presentations, written documentation or email format with different levels of management.

Additional responsibilities will include

  • Conducting staff meetings and one on one sessions with direct reports, as well as skip levels sessions as needed.

  • Assessing the business needs within the OU and assign tasks and actions to staff members accordingly.

  • Executing mid-year and year-end performance evaluations, to include writing performance reviews for direct reports and providing verbal performance feedback accordingly.

  • Filling in for the BU Sr Contracts Manager when required.

  • The successful candidate will have management responsibilities over various contracts within the OU’s portfolio, from the business development phase through contract closeout, delivering strong customer satisfaction, successful financial performance and risk mitigation.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 10+years relevant experience in contract administration/management or related field -OR- Masters's degree with 8+ years relevant experience in contract administration/management or related field

  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic business unit leadership team

  • Experience negotiating and administering various contract types of varying sizes and types of agreements with the DoD

  • Experience working with large dollar proposals, to include management of EN responses and negotiation of complex teaming agreements Thorough understanding of the requirements of applicable government regulations (FAR, DFAR)

  • Demonstrated leadership experience or supervisor experience

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Current, active US government security clearance at the Secret level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.

  • 15 years' experience in government contracting.

  • Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to function independently.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to use them in informing, presenting, and negotiating to all levels of management.

  • Team player, independent, proactive, and possess excellent problem solving, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.

  • Strong customer orientation and relationship building abilities.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively drive projects to completion.

  • Able to deal effectively with competing priorities and deadlines, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

  • Proven ability to attract top talent, build a top performing contracts team, and dynamically lead, inspire, motivate and engage a team of contracts managers and administrators.

  • Current, active Top Secret security clearance

Salary Range: $142,600 - $213,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
