Aerotek Maintenance Technician in Huntsville, Alabama

Job Title: Maintenance Technician (HVAC & Mechanical)

Shift Options:

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (with OT)

Compensation:

  • $27 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in HVAC systems, mechanical maintenance, and preventative maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment. In this role, you will perform a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of equipment, machinery, and facility systems. If you have hands-on experience with HVAC, pumps, compressors, and PLCs, this is the perfect opportunity to join a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, compressors, chillers, and related mechanical equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on facility components such as pumps, motors, air compressors, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including vehicle hoists, air compressors, pumps, and more.

  • Operate machinery and control systems, making necessary adjustments to maintain safe and efficient operations.

  • Use hand and power tools to perform repairs, ranging from overhauls to replacing defective components like valves, gaskets, and bearings.

  • Record relevant maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections, in an equipment log.

  • Conduct routine checks to identify potential mechanical problems by observing and listening to machinery.

  • Perform repairs to facility components including doors, locks, plumbing pumps, parking lots, roofs, signage, and more.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members, providing excellent customer service.

  • Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) standards, including HazMat and safety requirements.

  • Maintain equipment and tools in safe, efficient, and effective working condition.

  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong HVAC knowledge and experience with compressors, chillers, and refrigeration units.

  • Experience with preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with PLC and motor control systems is a plus.

  • Experience in plumbing, pipe fitting , and operating boom lifts and forklifts .

  • Ability to use tools like arc and acetylene welding equipment for equipment fabrication and repairs.

  • Experience installing and maintaining conduit and related hardware to power equipment.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical degree or certification is a plus.

  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including hot, non-climate-controlled conditions.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform manual labor.

Working Conditions:

  • Shifts : 12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with overtime opportunities.

  • Contract role with potential to transition to permanent status based on performance.

  • Work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to heat, dust, and other challenging conditions.

Additional Information:

  • This position requires a commitment to safety and quality, with the ability to perform physical labor such as walking, lifting, and working in varying conditions.

  • Team members must be adaptable and able to handle both routine and emergency repairs in a high-demand, industrial setting.

  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $45.00
