Axient is seeking a Junior Aerospace Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

Your typical day – Our MDA analysts and engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities at Redstone Arsenal. Redstone is located in Huntsville, Alabama, otherwise known as “Rocket City.” Huntsville is the hub of missile and space research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts – military, government civilians, and contractors from Axient and other companies. Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems.
What are your specific duties? - The Junior Aerospace Engineer will support the Missile Defense Agency Targets and Countermeasures program office. The candidate will assist with the Systems Engineering group with a variety of technical activities including vehicle requirements, trajectory development and analysis, flight performance, and reporting. You will work with a dynamic team to solve challenging problems associated with designing, developing, modeling, and testing Missile Defense System target vehicles.
Responsibilities Include:
Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office with development of missile defense target vehicles
Support the TC System Engineering team in all aspects of target design, analysis, and test to include requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, test analysis and reporting
Technical focus areas include aerodynamics analysis, trajectory development and analysis, coordinate system transformations, and vehicle performance assessment
Collaborate with a dynamic team of experts in multiple technical areas to develop analysis and engineering tools
Utilize knowledge, skills and experience with missile characteristics (physical, aerodynamics) to support engineering activities and data product development
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
Active DoD Secret security clearance, which requires US Citizenship
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, and other programming languages
Understanding of principles of aerodynamics; equations of motion; coordinate systems; vehicle dynamics; guidance, navigation, and control; etc.
Experience with missile and/or space vehicle design, engineering, test, and analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Desired Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes
Experience with the Missile Defense System
Experience in any or all of the following disciplines: Design, CAD, Trajectory, Radar Cross Section (RCS) Signatures, Optical Signatures
Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks
Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel
