Visiting Assistant Professor, Writing
Description
The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a one-year faculty position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2024 in the Writing program. The Writing program is housed in the Communication and Studio Arts department within the College of Human Sciences and Humanities.
Duties:
Teach four classes per semester (Fall and Spring), with optional summer teaching
Participate on college, program and departmental committees
Maintain a productive research program with potential for student involvement
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
Master's degree in Composition Pedagogy, or a related field
Areas of specialization include First-Year Composition, Business and/ or Technical Writing.
Knowledge in current pedagogical techniques for successful student learning in the Writing discipline
Proficiency in online learning management system, Canvas
Interpersonal skills to resolve student complaints and conflicts
Preferred:
Master's degree in Composition/Rhetoric, English with an emphasis in Writing Pedagogy, or other related field
Experience in Science Writing
Experience teaching at the college or university level
Experience teaching Writing in multiple delivery modalities
Bilingual Skills (especially Spanish)
