    Overview:

    Manages, develops and leads implementation of MEIT’s business development strategy, including identification, qualification and tracking of business opportunities; coordinating business development resources; and leading selected capture and proposal activities. Supports the corporate strategic development team as well as the tactical moves necessary to enable MEI Technologies to capture diverse and challenging opportunities in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop key teaming agreements and alliances with other companies

  • Develop strong relationships with senior MEIT staff and other business development personnel to achieve strategic objectives for the business

  • Identify, pursue, and lead capture on major prime opportunities

  • Assure business opportunity pipeline will meet strategic objectives

  • Lead and mentor a team of direct reporting and matrixed business development personnel

  • Manage and lead the business development processes

  • Represent the company at key conferences, symposia, and in public relations

  • Develop and maintain key business development process documents such as process flows and manuals, request for information responses, tailored capabilities briefings, white papers, business contact records, capture plans, and past performance inputs.

  • Ensure advertising, publicity and promotions are in concert with the business development activities

Qualifications

  • Established relationships in two or more of these market areas: aerospace engineering, NASA human exploration, DoD and Commercial space applications

  • 8 to 10 years of government /commercial procurement and business development experience in federal aerospace engineering / payload integration / operations / cybersecurity including:

  • Successful capture of at least one $75+M opportunity

  • Leading a business development team supporting a $50+M business enterprise

  • Technical understanding of space systems development and operations

  • Strong project management skills especially in the arena of proposal planning, development, and delivery

  • Capability to think and act strategically and mitigate corporate risk and liability

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent; or equivalent experience. MBA or equivalent desirable

  • Capable of receiving a Top Secret Clearance

  • Strong presentation skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work cohesively with a corporate executive team

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to work well with personnel from different backgrounds, corporate cultures, and skill levels

  • In-depth understanding of government and commercial contracting, including applicable laws and regulations

  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of contract terms and conditions and of cost and pricing issues and methodology

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to work to and meet challenging deadlines

  • Ability to lead teams of people with varying degrees of experience to product a quality product under stressful conditions

  • Ability to analyze information for strategic value and to extract information from multiple sources to craft a cohesive strategy

  • Ability to deal effectively with customer personnel and to be a straight shooter with senior company executives and other corporate personnel
