Sr. Technical Professional - Mechanical, KBR Technical Services, Inc., Houston, TX:

Responsible for design, specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired and unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems. Responsible for design, specification, selection and services of mechanical systems for buildings such as gases, fluids, and heating, ventilating, air conditioning and vertical transportation. Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations and modifications. Assist in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Independently plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Plan, budget, organize, coordinate and control projects. Review Project Scope and Generate Work Hour Estimates. Lead Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design Projects. Interface with clients, vendors, teams.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related field and 5years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of related work experience.

Must have 2 years of experience in all of the following:

  • Material handling engineering and design including scoping, sizing, specifying, bidding, and laying out of various bulk material handling equipment including conveyors (belt & screw), chutes, bucket elevators, reclaim feeders, storage silos, roll handling equipment, and pneumatic conveyors;

  • Working with modeling programs including PDMS or E3D, and AutoCad Plant 3D;

  • Scoping projects and generating work hour estimates for material handling and piping project; and

  • Generating multidiscipline Equipment Layouts and modifying existing layouts in 2D and 3D. Equipment to layout and model includes tanks, pumps, chemical skids, heat exchangers, coolers, filters, compressors, permeators, and strainers.

Must have 3 years of experience working with Microstation and AutoCAD Drafting.

Must have 1 year of experience in leading and executing design of FEED and Detailed Design piping projects in both 2D and 3D.

Telecommuting permitted 100% of the time. Candidate may reside/work from anywhere in the U.S

Domestic travel required up to 15%.
