As Sr. Project Manager (SR Ops NA/LATAM), you will work under the leadership of the SR (Social Responsibility) Operations Lead, within the Global Procurement Sustainability (GPS) team, closely with Amazon’s Social Responsibility team and the Global Procurement Organization to implement mechanisms to meet Amazon’s human rights principles and Supply Chain Standards and to ensure our suppliers are compliant with those.

Key job responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading Audit risk assessment activities across Global Operations suppliers. You will meet with senior leaders to understand the business and leverage multiple sources of business data to help you assess human right risks. You will sponsor and oversee a portfolio of audits. You will help them scope, plan and execute high-quality Audits and remediation plans, which address the highest risks. You will insist on the highest standards for your team and your audits, and you will be able to dive deep into every audit area, apply broad technical knowledge, sound business judgment, and partner with key stakeholders. As Compliance Lead for NA/LATAM region, you will guide your team in:

• Working across GPO, collaborating with external partners (Audit companies) and internal business partners, such as Operations, WW SR and Sustainability, Legal and Risk Management to to identify and assess regulatory and human rights compliance risks as it relates to our supplier baseline

• Reviewing new and existing suppliers (legacy) ensuring that they meet Human Rights compliance, safety, terms of service standards, investigate suspicious suppliers / driver activity and behaviors that could pose a risk to Amazon, our customers, or others

• Driving cross-functional assessments of risks and controls to align to company strategy and risk appetite. Be able to assess the real situation sometimes with limited information in hand in order to make an independent decision about the suppliers’ integrity and compliance standards

• Drafting responses to high-priority and critical issues that arise, in partnership with CSR Lead and SR team

• Handling day-to-day issues (constantly thinking about how to invent and simplify to improve)

• Engage with vendors during the Audit Process, re-establishing expectations around their roles and responsibilities.

• Define and execute on standard communication pathways for all vendors and identify escalation procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, management, finance, sustainability, or similar

  • Experience in procurement, contracts, or negotiation

  • 5+ years of working experience

  • Experience and proficiency in project management

  • Experience with Procurement or risk assessment tool (eg. Ecovadis)

  • Experience in People management

  • Good level of communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Basic knowledge of data collection and analysis methods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS)

  • Experience in Sustainability or Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Experience working in risk mitigation, compliance function, internal controls, legal, Human Rights compliance, labor employment, transportation or supply chain experience.

  • Experience in managing projects or/and case management or/and experience in improving process.

  • Able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across different organizations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
