Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description We are in search of a skilled and dedicated Sr. Accountant to join our team in the construction/contractor industry based in Houston, Texas. As a Sr. Accountant, you will be responsible for various accounting functions related to our operating communities, including preparing financial statements, processing general ledger accounting entries, and communicating results to management and joint venture partners.

Responsibilities

• Establish clear lines of communication with Executive Directors, operations staff, management, and joint venture partners to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information and financial results.

• Oversee and maintain the general ledger for multiple operating communities, including the preparation of journal entries, monthly review, and closing.

• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and other management reports for each operating community.

• Handle monthly reporting to joint venture partners, including the preparation of cash flow distributions.

• Review accounts payable invoices for each operating community.

• Carry out intercompany reconciliations and settlement of amounts on a monthly basis.

• Complete monthly and quarterly account reconciliations in a timely manner.

• Process weekly accounts payable check runs on a rotational basis with other staff.

• Prepare various entries for all communities, as assigned.

• Assist with internal (SOX) and external audits.

• Provide support with other accounting duties as needed for cross-training of tasks. Requirements • Possession of a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• A minimum of five years of experience in a senior accounting role in the construction industry

• Proven expertise in Financial Statement Preparation and Analysis

• Thorough understanding and application of US GAAP

• Experience with Intercompany Accounting and Joint Ventures

• Proficiency in Month End Close procedures and General Ledger management

• Practical knowledge of Sage Timberline software

• Proven ability to perform Account Reconciliation tasks effectively

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to detail

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
