Position Summary:
Provides related treatment and/or research for persons experiencing homelessness.
UTHealth Psych & Behavioral Science department is hiring a graduate Social Workerto join their team. This exempt position is located at 1941 East Road, Houston, 77054.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Interviews and screens patients to for parts of case conceptualization and the development of treatment goals.
Plans course of treatment to ensure that patients receive appropriate treatment or referral.
Obtains clinical assessment data from patients and/or relatives in the best interest of their problems to assist in the development of a number of significant teaching endeavors, programs, and social services.
Works towards meeting total patient care. This includes interviews with the patients to study the individual’s problems and needs, confers with the physician, faculty, and/or with any social agency which may have an interest in the patient’s problem, intervenes with patient and to make psychological and social adjustments necessitated by of serious mental illness or co-occurring disorder and conducts individual and group therapies using evidence based practices.
Prepares therapy notes and may audio tape sessions with patients for review with coworkers or a faculty member.
Solicits the assistance of religious, social, and welfare agencies in the treatment of patients. Interacts with community health workers, research assistants social work staff at community based agencies and psychiatric residents and faculty.
Responds to emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Licensure as a Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW) by the Texas Board of Social Work is required.
Licensure as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) by the Texas Board of Social Work is preferred.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor Degree in Social Work or related field.
Minimum Experience:
None
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
