WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Technical Director/Program Manager for our Houston, TX office. The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in Texas as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice. This individual will have significant involvement and input in the strategic plan to grow the practice and increase our program management and business development activities. This position will enhance existing client relationships, position for new work, and deliver successful projects.

Your Impact

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support development of local growth, forecast and business development strategy in collaboration with Local and National Business Line Leaders

  • Work with the Local Business Leads to attract industry talent

  • Performs a range of marketing and business development activities, including gathering client intelligence, leading Program Management pursuits and proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations

  • Fostering a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking – crafting a more attractive place to work, grow and thrive

  • Bring an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offering across all end markets

  • Utilizes our extended reach across regions, districts, offices and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery

  • Manage local client coordination and cross-selling efforts

  • Leverage our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings

  • Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff

  • Support the Texas Transportation Business Leads in driving a company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, employee retention and development and high performance on company goals

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in transportation and infrastructure projects

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas

  • Minimum 5 years Program Management experience leading, managing and mentoring teams

  • Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistent and goal oriented

  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes

  • Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice

  • Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area

  • Commitment to internal and external client service

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
