We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities Engineer (Vacuum Systems) to join the team with JETS II Teammate company, Nexus Solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and direct the running of vacuum systems in JSC TVAC chambers.

  • Work in a team environment, and report to a section manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.

  • Support hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within a TVAC facility.

  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports(DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.

  • Place and carefully track progress of procurements.

  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Experience with facilities management.

  • Experience / Knowledge managing with the upkeep of equipment (pumps, motors, blowers, valves, etc.) related to facility maintenance.

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.

  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.

  • Ability to coordinate with a multi -disciplinary team to trouble-shoot facility problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels.

  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

  • Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and trouble shooting on mechanical systems.

  • Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

  • Fire Hazards in Oxygen Systems Training

  • Inventor, Creo or other similar CAD Soft ware package is preferred.

  • Familiarity with ASME BPVC VIII, ASME B31.3 Piping Code, Uniform building code, NFPA and OSHA requirements.

  • Project management skills is a plus

  • Experience with NASA's Pressure Systems Manual, JPR 1710.13 is a plus.

  • Presentation skills are highly desired.

  • Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:

  • Individual may be required to climb ladders and/or work in Confined Spaces.

  • Individual may be required to work in Oxygen Deficiency Hazard areas.

  • Individual may be required to work in High Noise environment.

  • Individual may be required to occasionally work off

-hours, nights, or weekends to support mission critical projects.
