PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Sales, Use and Property Tax Consultant, you will prepare and review required documentation and compliance forms to ensure compliance with sales and use tax laws in multi-state environments. In this role, you will utilize your tax background and experience dealing with tax implications to help Clients meet their tax needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Provide guidance to ensure compliance with sales and use tax laws in a multi-state environment

  • Research and determine appropriate taxability of products and services

  • Ensure use tax is accrued and remitted appropriately

  • Ensure all documented procedures/internal controls are followed with respect to sales and use tax

  • Follow standard operating practices for sales and use tax program

  • Prepare and file returns, respond to state inquiries, and work with external auditors as necessary; including documentation and maintenance of distribution/wholesale status

  • Research nexus triggers and risk assessment of business operations performed

  • Communicate new tax programs to various team members within the organization

  • Perform other related job functions as directed by the tax manager which could include:

  • Analyzing tax rates and geographic codes

  • Customer Relocation Account Adjustments

  • Lease tax audit analysis to assist Tax Specialist

  • Sales Tax Reconciliations

  • State sales tax filings

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Masters in Accounting, Finance or Taxation preferred

  • CPA preferred, but not required

  • 3-plus years of experience working in the sales and use and property tax departments

  • Sales and use tax background and experience dealing with tax implications

  • Able to creatively research, analyze, and conclude specifically assigned US tax issues with minimal supervision

  • Able to work closely with groups within a corporate structure including finance, legal, operations, etc

  • A team player attitude with a willingness to assist other accounting team members with tasks as needed

  • Understanding of income tax laws associated with an LLC as it relates to equity and distributions reporting

  • Knowledge of sales and use tax software
