MD Anderson Cancer Center Program Manager - Bladder Cancer Patient Support Center in Houston, Texas

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Bladder Cancer Patient Support Center Program Manager is to provide strategic leadership, independent judgment, and decision-making related to the development and management of the patient support center for bladder cancer, ensuring that individuals affected by bladder cancer have access to a supportive community that enhances their emotional well-being and coping strategies.

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee daily activities and operations of the patient support center, focusing on planning, budgeting, and development of support programs.

  • Manage timelines for the implementation of patient support initiatives, ensuring the achievement of short and long-term goals.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other relevant staff to integrate patient support groups seamlessly into the overall patient care plan.

  • Develop and maintain procedural process maps to streamline operational procedures.

  • Create meeting agendas, document meeting minutes, and follow up on action items to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

  • Track and organize relevant documents using shared folders for seamless information exchange.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Identify and assess the needs of bladder cancer patients and their families to tailor support group offerings accordingly.

  • Develop and implement new support group initiatives based on emerging patient needs.

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to integrate evidence-based practices and resources into support group programs.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve the quality and impact of patient support group offerings.

  • Monitor the progress and impact of patient support programs.

  • Generate internal and external progress reports and presentations.

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify areas for program improvement.

  • Support the development and execution of strategic priorities, including organizational framework development, communication coordination, progress tracking, and stakeholder reporting.

  • Create tools and templates to facilitate project management and reporting.

COMMUNICATION AND OUTREACH

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals interested in joining or learning more about support groups.

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote awareness of support group offerings.

  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to reach a broader audience.

  • Maintain relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and other partners to expand the reach of patient support groups.

REPORTING AND EVALUATION

  • Report directly to the Medical Director of the Bladder Cancer Support Group

  • Monitor and assess the attendance, engagement, and overall satisfaction of support group participants.

  • Generate regular reports on support group activities, outcomes, and participant feedback.

  • Utilize data and feedback to make informed decisions for program improvement.

  • Coordinate large and complex meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and communicate effectively with team members.

  • Collaborate with administrative leadership to prepare reports and presentations.

  • Manage reviews and submissions of documentation requiring executive approval.

  • Maintain a database of relevant information and be responsible for the accuracy of the same.

  • Review and budget for all travel arrangements and reimbursements for the team.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education:

Master's degree.

Required Experience:

Five years related experience to include three years program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Familiar with healthcare administration, health advocacy, social work, or nursing, 2-3 years of project/program management experience with a track record of managing projects, experience with success metrics (i.e. cost reductions, improved customer satisfaction, and risk reduction). Experience with budget and timeline management, performance metrics, cross functional collaborations, and demonstrate the skills to successfully lead a program, experience navigating complex organizations, large academic institution or non-profit organization, familiar with community outreach and engagement strategies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem solve oriented, ability to build teams, offer strategies and guidance to the team.

Work Schedule:

This individual will work onsite 2-3 days a week.
