Position Title: Power System Support Engineer

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Act as the first point of contact of customers regarding their technical product queries and determine and initiate the needed resolution path. Work with customers on analyzing and evaluating their power system stability studies which includes Load flow studies, short circuit, transient analysis, and contingency studies. Provide resolution, guidance to power system simulation challenges and shepherd the resolution through subject matter experts, application owners, trainers, or other technical resources. Ensure that all cases are handled appropriately and timely. Maintain, update, and enhance the FAQ library to aid quick responses and/or self-service. Manage Customer Care related surveys and drive customer satisfaction improvement programs. Participate in Quality Assurance tasks such as software product testing. Collaborate with product development team to implement feature enhancements.

Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems Engineering or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or an acceptable alternate occupation. Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience. The position requires experience with the following: knowledge of transmission system planning or operations; experience in analyzing power flow, transient stability, and electromagnetic transients; knowledge in electrical system modeling as it pertains to dynamic system studies; knowledge of PSS®E and/or Network Model Management, ODMS, PSCAD and/or PSLF or similar power systems simulation software; experience in distribution planning and/or production costing; experience with installation, setup, and configuration of support processes and landscape such as live chat, AI-based chat bots and analytics on cloud-based support platforms such as Freshdesk or Zendesk; experience with PSSE, ODMS, PSCAD, PowerWorld, Digsilent, Power Factory, or Python.
