MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Cardiology (Koutroumpakis Lab) in Houston, Texas

The research trainee will participate in design of observational studies, perform data collection and aggregation from MD Anderson patients. The trainee will become adept at use of databases such as RedCap database software and database management. In addition, the trainee will learn and build on statistical analysis principles and perform introductory statistical analysis of the dataset. The trainee will also learn and build on abstract and manuscript writing skills and scientific presentations. In regard to acquiring research skills, we have a set of lectures based on epidemiology principles that we will expect the trainee to review. These lectures will focus on epidemiologic concepts including patient selection, types of study bias, clinical trial design, review of strengths and limitations of cross-sectional studies, retrospective and prospective cohorts, case-control studies, randomized controlled trials, and systematic review and meta-analyses. These skills and knowledge will be applied to the main project and subprojects that the trainee will participate in.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Learn the basics of conducting human subject research by completing the training and being mentored by our clinical research faculty and team.

Learn how to conduct clinical research pertaining to cardiovascular diseases including cardiovascular toxicity from cancer therapy or co-existing cardiovascular disease in patients with cancer.

Learn and be involved in research.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Medical School degree with at least introductory research experience during medical school or after.

POSITION INFORMATION
