MD Anderson Cancer Center Philanthropy Specialist - Special Programs and Events in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of the Special Programs and Events Philanthropy Specialist position is to partner with the Program Manager and Associate Vice President to raise funds and develop donor relationships for MD Anderson Cancer Center. Working with the Program Manager, the Philanthropy Specialist will assist with event logistics as they relate to event planning, event management, event marketing, fundraising, friend raising/cultivation activities and event staffing needs.

This position requires individuals that can assist with detail-oriented tasks with accuracy such as database management; multi-tasking between multiple events being planned and/or occurring at the same time; talking with donors regarding events; traveling when necessary to assist with events; determining event logistics and assisting with all collateral event printed materials, teaming with others in the division and working with outside vendors.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Programmatic Project Execution (60%)

Consistently deliver skillful execution of team-specific work with an eye toward continuous improvement, while being aware of the impact of the team's work on and in partnership with others.

· Coordinate and assist with events, activities and communication for donors to raise funds and develop donor relationships. Exercise creativity, strategic thinking, and attention to detail. Work collaboratively and adaptively with all members of the Special Programs and Events Team as needed for both in-person and virtual events.

Collaboration and Teaming (20%)

Actively partner with donors, peers, faculty and divisional leadership on strategy development, strategy execution and other projects. Develop networks, engage in cross-functional activities to deliver stakeholder engagement. Work co-operatively with all stakeholders, contribute to the success of collaborative work teams and support completion of initiative or project to achieve stated goals.

· At the direction of the Program Manager and Associate Vice President and others within the Special Programs and Events Team, take an active role in the maintenance and updating of the donor database's events tracking system; assist with and monitor attendance input; help maintain integrity of donor database through validating donor names, addresses, telephone numbers, relationships, gifts and strategies. Manage procedural functions in Concur including making travel arrangements and travel reimbursement activities for supervisor.

Stakeholder Engagement (20%)

Display social awareness, professional etiquette, and the ability to interact and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders. Engage with diverse constituencies with social fluency and garner their trust. Promote inclusiveness and collegiality by demonstrating respect, tolerance, professionalism, and courtesy to others at all times.

· Use independent judgment and complex analysis to gather facts and determine appropriate solutions generally based on past experiences and department practices.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: One year of clerical, office, administrative, organizational, or related support experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Two or more years of professional events experience, including large event planning.
