JOB SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Security Supervisor, the On-Call Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets at the ConocoPhillips Aviation Hangar. Enforces safety and security measures, confirm flight manifests, performs regular vehicular and foot patrols of assigned premises, performs access control duties, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures.

*This position requires flexibility and the ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.

The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the company may identify other duties of the position. These responsibilities may differ depending on business necessities and client requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Military, law enforcement, or security experience preferred, but not required

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Houston Airport Badge

  • Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Routine foot and vehicular patrols.

  • Confirm flight manifests.

  • Assist in screening and baggage check of all flight passengers and occupants as requested by client.

  • Conduct regular and random patrols (by foot or vehicle) of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured.

  • Provide escorts and assist motorists within site boundaries.

  • Provide daily activity reports and preliminary incident reports.

  • Provide security related customer service and emergency response activities as required.

  • Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.

  • Control site ingress and egress: check identification, authorize admittance, and verify Company property removal.

  • Process visitors and produce access badges per established procedures.

  • Monitor the opening and closing of garage perimeter entry/exit gates.

  • Monitor CCTV activity: take appropriate action in accordance with established site procedures.

  • Understand and successfully execute post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules and regulations.

  • Display courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers.

  • Perform searches of people, vehicles, buildings, and other assigned areas.

  • May be asked to perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters.

  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.

  • Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.

  • Interview people to detect infringements and to investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism and accidents or incidents. Report irregularities to management.

  • Write Daily Activity Reports (and Incident Reports, if applicable) of events/services performed.

  • May assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations, apprehending unauthorized persons found on the property, etc.

  • Maintain high standards for work areas and appearance.

  • Must comply with established dress code/uniform requirements.

  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professionalism.

  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety and operational procedures.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Attend company/job required training programs (classroom and virtual).

  • May step up into the Lead/Shift Supervisor role as requested.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The majority of the work is performed in and around an airport hangar with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The employee will be required to work in a confined workspace such as a security guard post or patrol vehicle for extended periods of time. Exposure to work assignments consisting of overtime as needed or flexible work hours; ability to work day or night shifts as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, sitting, bending, and carrying/lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds. Candidate will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical.
