MD Anderson Cancer Center Merchandising Technician ( Branded Merchandise-Ecommerce ) in Houston, Texas

The Merchandising Technician, is a front-line worker in the Volunteer Services and Merchandising (VSM) warehouse facility and fulfillment center at the Corder Street Warehouse and 8080A El Rio Building involved in multiple key functions including accurately maintaining Children's Art Project "CAP" and branded merchandise inventory, receiving product from vendors (unloading trucks), picking product for retail stores and special retail events, and loading trucks. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operations of our warehouse, meeting customer expectations by efficiently handling incoming shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and preparing orders, merchandise, and supplies for timely delivery.

The hours for this position will be Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm.The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills, and experience driving box trucks.

The Merchandising Technicians will act as a back-up for warehouse and fulfilment center co-worker(s) as requested by Associate Director, Merchandising.

Receiving (35)

· This position is responsible for completing or assisting in the receipt, processing, and unpacking of inventory. Receiving freight includes inspecting shipments for noticeable damage and signing the delivery receipt to acknowledge a shipment has been delivered.

· Unload and inspect incoming freight deliveries and shipments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

· Merchandising Technicians must count individual units in boxes to ensure accuracy relative to invoices and computer orders.

· Verify shipments against purchase orders or packing lists for completeness and for storing materials in designated areas.

· Merchandising Technicians are expected to load and unload materials by hand or by mechanical lifting equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.

· Utilize inventory management systems, POS system (Counterpoint), and cloud-based programs to track inventory movement and update records, as well as to perform stock keeping and clerical work in the receiving, storing, and distribution of widely diversified gift and branded merchandise inventory.

· Review incoming shipments of customized products, inspecting merchandise for conformity with original order. In cases of discrepancies, reject shipment or communicate quality control issue to a superior.

· In the case of missing or defective items, the Merchandising Technicians records and reports the issue to the Manager, Warehousing, or appropriate personnel.

· Keen sense of urgency to effectively complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Receive Gift Shop branded merchandise inventory.

· Receive Ecommerce branded merchandise inventory.

· Awareness of safety procedures, safety requirements, including proper loading and unloading techniques, inspections, and emergency response protocol.

Inventory management (35)

· Must be able to effectively complete multiple tasks and meet established deadlines.

· Merchandising Technicians must be able to work independently with minimal direction and supervision or as a team member.

· After receipt, the position stocks products on shelves or on pallets, collaborating with team members to ensure proper storage and placement of merchandise. Maintaining organization is key because it allows for easier inventory checks and product pulls.

· With small merchandise, Merchandising Technicians place goods in storage by hand. With heavier items or large boxes, a forklift may be used to move products from receiving to storage.

· This position oversees the receiving, inspecting, and storing of all materials so that these materials may be stored systematically and disbursed efficiently.

· Accountable for accurate arrangement of warehoused inventory to provide easy accessibility and ready identification.

· Conduct regular inventory counts of warehouse to maintain accurate stock levels and comply with annual requirements of General Accounting.

· May also participate in periodic special inventories or cycle counts as requested by Associate Director, Merchandising.

· Merchandising Technicians use complex reporting and forecasting tools to track and maintain proper inventory levels for ecommerce. Shortages or discrepancies must be reported promptly.

· Assist in organizing the fulfillment center and warehouse layout to optimize space utilization.

· Collaborate with colleagues and Manager to plan and implement effective inventory control procedures, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and processes.

· Monitor and maintain an adequate level of supplies for fulfillment center and warehouse locations.

· Responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness of the fulfillment center and warehouse.

· Ability to perform job duties productively and accurately.

· Assist with printing labels for new products.

Fulfillment and volunteer supervision (30)

· Impact the flow of retail merchandise moving in or out of the institution.

· Prepare outgoing shipments of products by various transportation means for all retail sales channels (mail, web, special retail events, corporate accounts, etc.).

· Maintain shipping station, including OTA software updates and downloadable rates.

· Assist in equipment maintenance.

· Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders and product transfers accurately, efficiently and within the designated period as dictated by business need.

· Ensure orders are properly labeled and packaged for transportation.

· Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule and facilitate timely deliveries.

· Load and unload delivery vehicles while adhering to safety protocols.

· Conduct quality checks on outgoing orders to maintain high customer satisfaction.

· Flexible and adaptable to change.

· Assist with facility notifications and equipment maintenance. Sweeping floors, appropriately discarding or recycling packing materials and boxes, and organizing supplies and materials are expected duties.

· Assist with completion of requested Job Request of VSM which may include delivery of CancerConnection perishable goods, VSM patient amenities, as well as IA request as needed.

· Assist with pulling and packing inventory for Gift Shops deliveries.

· Assist with supervising warehouse volunteers in daily tasks and jobs.

· Maintain work environment to ensure security, cleanliness, and safety standards.

· Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and experience operating an 18' - 20' box truck, with a proven track record of safe and efficient driving.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation related to vehicle operations.

· Ability to adapt to changing schedules and routes based on the need of the department and unforeseen circumstances.

· Willingness to undergo additional training or certification as required by the department or the institution, possibly out-of-state.

Required : High school diploma or equivalent.
