Description
The Indirect Tax Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the company's indirect tax obligations, including VAT, GST, sales tax, and other transactional taxes. The role involves ensuring compliance with tax regulations, optimizing tax positions, and minimizing risks associated with indirect taxation.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure timely and accurate filing of indirect tax returns (e.g., VAT, GST).
Prepare and review VAT/GST calculations, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Monitor changes in indirect tax legislation and assess their impact on the company.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
Develop and implement strategies to optimize indirect tax positions.
Advise on tax-efficient structuring of transactions and business operations.
Conduct periodic reviews of indirect tax processes to identify improvement opportunities.
Audit and Risk Management:
Assist with internal and external tax audits.
Identify and manage indirect tax risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Maintain accurate and complete records to support compliance and audit requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with tax authorities and external advisors on indirect tax matters.
Provide support and guidance to other departments on indirect tax issues.
Train and educate staff on indirect tax policies and procedures.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain thorough documentation of tax positions, decisions, and correspondence.
Ensure proper documentation for all indirect tax transactions and activities.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in indirect tax management.
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax compliance.

Requirements
• Possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated expertise in Indirect Tax is a must.
• Hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
