Hydrogen Subject Matter Expert

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is seeking a Hydrogen Subject Matter Expert with specific capabilities across the hydrogen value chain in this growing market. The applicant should have extensive expertise in hydrogen technology, insight into new technologies, and an understanding of the global hydrogen market. You will be responsible for providing technical input, assurance, and guidance to projects and proposals to ensure KBR consistently provides world-leading technology developments across the company.

In addition, you will represent KBR in conferences and prepare technical papers to showcase KBR's expertise. The applicant must understand the latest technologies and market developments to ensure best practices are implemented throughout projects.

The position is a hybrid of office / remote working, with a home office location in the KBR Tower in Houston, Texas.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Hydrogen encompassing, production, compression, liquefaction, storage, and transportation.

  • Providing technical assurance and guidance to the broader company.

  • Ensure the latest technology or practices are implemented on all projects.

  • Engage with Clients and project teams across the world.

  • Provide technical training on subject matter expertise.

  • Support proposals to ensure technical consistency of approach.

  • Authoring technical papers.

  • Actively participate in technical networks, maintaining a solid awareness of technical developments, ensuring this knowledge is effectively disseminated throughout the business.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

  • Experience in designing, commissioning, and operating hydrogen generation plants or hydrogen conversion processes like ammonia and methanol.

  • Extensive knowledge is required in the following technologies:

  • Hydrogen production (blue and green)

  • Hydrogen purification

  • Hydrogen liquefaction

  • Hydrogen storage and transportation

  • Experience in writing technical reports/papers.

  • Experience in developing and presenting technology in formal settings.

  • Experience in developing proposals for new projects

Preferred Education & Skills:

  • Experience training/mentoring younger engineers either informally or through a formal training scheme.

  • A relevant number of years' Experience working in the hydrogen market in design and development.
