MD Anderson Cancer Center HIM Operations Analyst - Power BI in Houston, Texas

The HIM Operations Analyst in the department of HIM Administration at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides analysis and operational support of HIM business processes and activities.

The ideal candidate must have demonstrated experience with Power BI, including connecting disparate data sets and creating charts or graphs to provide visuals of data.

Essential Functions:

Analyze data, identify trends, patterns to improve and optimize systems. Use advanced risk-based models to identify improvements for HIM systems and modify workflows. Implement changes to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency. Trains staff on use of applications. Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues. Advises HIM department or Information Services department of any issues or changes that are impacting the clinical areas.

The Health Information Management (HIM) Department serves a multitude of internal and external clients which include clinical and research faculty, patients and their families, staff employees, students, regulatory and accreditation agencies, third party payers and other patient representatives such as attorneys. Our team focuses on securing and maintaining health information and the management of health care information resources. Accurate, complete, secure patient information is essential to the delivery of safe, effective and reimbursable health care. We ensure that patient information meets regulatory compliance and accreditation standards. HIM services include document bar coding and imaging, chart corrections, medical record auditing, release of information, forms management, clinical documentation improvement and customer service.

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor's degree in HIM , Healthcare Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: At least five years experience in Health Information Management (HIM) or related field. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Must have demonstrated experience with Power BI, including connecting disparate data sets and creating charts or graphs to provide visuals of data.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Preferred: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Tech (RHIT) by the American Health would be a plus.
