Jacobs has a need for an ECLSS Systems Engineer to join our team with Oceaneering Space Systems , a JETS teammate company. Specifically, support the development of the Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) requirements and architecture for various flight programs.
The Gateway ECLSS Systems Engineer will:
Perform Gateway ECLSS trade studies and analysis.
Prepare and present decision packages and change requests to update the ECLSS technical baseline.
Manage interfaces between ECLSS and vehicle architecture.
Develop detailed verification objectives.
Work in a team environment and report to the NASA lead to provide status on progress and issues.
Support early development and prototype testing at vendor.
Provide ECLSS expertise in support of GFE development.
Evaluate ECLSS development and qualification progress and requirements compliance.
Ensure NASA requirements are satisfied by design solutions.
Participate in and Support ECLSS hardware at PDR and CDR.
Provide inputs to ECLSS risks for mitigation.
Understand and interpret vehicle or habitat vendor architecture.
Review interface definition interpret drawings (ICDs).
Assist in evaluating vendor pushbacks/waiver requests.
Some travel required to vendor/supplier facilities.
Support failure troubleshooting and resolution.
Perform other duties as required.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
T his position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.
Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria.
Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space ECLSS systems including Atmosphere Revitalization Systems, Atmosphere Conditioning, Environmental Monitoring, Pressure Control Systems, and Emergency Systems.
Experience with NASA SE&I processes and techniques.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
Experience with fault detection isolation and recovery/ECLSS controller algorithms.
Experience with space vehicle:
Atmosphere Conditioning (THC/ventilation)
Environmental Monitoring (air/water)

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
