MD Anderson Cancer Center Data Manager in Houston, Texas

KEY FUNCTIONS

Data Operations

  1. Executes data operations for program. Monitors data management within the program and among trainees. Oversees data management for program databases and dashboards.

  2. Develops and validates clinical dashboards and performs statistical analyses of head and neck surgery research databases.

  3. Facilitates and oversees new strategies to effectively manage large volumes of patient data, improve efficiency, and ensure validation of clinical dashboards. Includes database conversion and migration efforts as clinical reporting systems change within the institution and conducts quality assurance analysis to ensure complete and accurate migration of data.

  4. Executes the design and implementation of custom research-oriented computer databases using Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar database platforms.

  5. Assisting with raw and analyzed data organization, and management.

  6. Applies statistical tests for associations, differences, survival analyses, and regressions.

  7. Must work independently.

  8. Must be able to manage and troubleshoot multiple projects simultaneously.

Clinical Research Administration

  1. Facilitate preparation of documents required for protocol submissions; includes liaising with Office of Protocol Research and Clinical Research Program leadership to ensure timely and accurate submission of protocols, audits, revisions, and continuing review to the IRB.

  2. Organizes program meetings with PI to track progress and to organize and prepare research data toward the goal of scientific presentation and publication.

  3. Serves as the primary liaison for research operations and compliance between the faculty and the Clinical Research Program leadership team.

  4. Communicates clearly and effectively with collaborators across clinical disciplines.

Academic and Scientific Functions

  1. Collaborates with PI and faculty within the Head and Neck Surgery Performance Improvement Program to prepare manuscripts for peer review and scientific lectures. Contributes as author when appropriate. Assists research staff and trainees in preparation of data analysis and scientific writing for manuscripts and scientific lectures. Assists co-investigators preparing manuscripts or scientific presentations from clinical studies conducted in the program.

  2. Completes literature reviews and summary of selected topics for discussion and presentation, and for integration into manuscripts, and scientific papers.

Other duties as assigned

Education Required: Bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Statistics or related field.

Education Required: Master's degree

Experience Required: Five years of experience in database design and management. With preferred degree, three years of experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Experience Preferred: Ability to analyze healthcare data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights using statistical tools and software (e.g., SAS, R, Python), preferred.
