Robert Half Controller in Houston, Texas

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Houston, Texas, United States. This role is crucial to our operations, overseeing Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, and Human Relations. The Controller will manage department operations, ensure accuracy and efficiency, and promote a positive work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the financial management and budgeting processes, providing reports to the executive team

• Coordinate the functions of the accounting and human resource departments, including AP/AR, job costing, general ledger, payroll, and cash flow

• Implement a system of control over the Accounting transactions to prevent fraud or risk

• Generate monthly work in progress and financial statements, ensuring they comply with reporting standards

• Aid in financial decision-making by creating financial reports and analyses

• Facilitate monthly accounting/financial reviews, annual audits, and tax returns

• Keep business and tax licenses up-to-date across all states/localities

• Monitor project budgets and expenses, ensuring they are within the defined limits

• Identify and address training needs, directing employee training programs

• Ensure the company is in compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements

• Take on other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the team. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position

• Proficiency in Job Cost, Budgeting - Forecasting, and Project Budgets is required

• Experience with Month-end Close Activities and Financial Statement Preparation is necessary

• Knowledge of Sage 300 is a must

• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills are essential

• Must have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is highly desirable

• Solid understanding of financial laws and regulations

• Proven ability to manage a team and work collaboratively across departments

• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports

• High level of honesty, integrity, commitment, and responsibility

• Accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organizational skills

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
