POSITION SUMMARY:
Marathon Pipe Line (MPL) is seeking an individual to serve as the Business Operations & Planning (BO&P) Manager. The BO&P Manager is a member of the MPL strategic leadership team and oversees 7 business development representatives. The department is responsible for Special Projects, Tariffs, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the BO&P department through setting and driving goals and strategies. Serves as Sponsor for any BO&P projects and the department budget.
Serves as a member of the MPL strategic leadership team. Provides direct input to MPL President pertaining to areas of expertise. Provides input on developing the overall strategic direction of the MPL organization and supporting that strategy.
Responsible for Joint Interest (JI) Coordination on MPL operated assets such as BANGL, Capline, Muskegon, Centennial, Lou-Lex, etc.
Serves as the President for LOCAP LLC and Muskegon Pipeline LLC, and Owner Representative for LOCAP and Lou-Lex pipelines.
Provides guidance and leadership on Business Development (BD) initiatives impacting MPL. In collaboration with BD, identifies new business opportunities and develops, negotiates, and executes agreements for alignment including operating, services, connection, storage, throughput, and ownership agreements. Maintains all commercial agreements for MPL.
Plans and coordinates MPL onboarding and offboarding of newly acquired or sold major assets. This includes partnering with MPL leadership, BD, Law, and MPL SMEs.
Coordinates MPL surveys, benchmarking, and pipeline system stages.
Responsible for all L&S Tariffs, including setting strategy to maximize revenue, mitigate risk, improve efficiencies, and align with industry standards. Partners cross-functionally with Law and BD to achieve these goals.
Responsible for FERC compliance acting as a company-wide SME to ensure compliance while seeking the most favorable outcomes for MPC/MPLX FERC jurisdictional carriers. Oversees all shipper protests and develops strategies in partnership with BD, Law, consultants, and outside counsel.
Manages elements of regulatory compliance, communication, cost estimation, budget management, agreement management, and operationalizing of new assets
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in business, commercial, engineering, law, operations management or related field required
Ten (10) years directly related professional experience required; Marathon Pipe Line experience preferred.
Three (3) years leadership experience required.
Seven (7) years FERC, Tariff, Commercial or Business Development experience preferred
