The Heavy Equipment Lead Technician performs and coordinates skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of Vehicles, Heavy Duty Equipment, and related Construction Equipment with gasoline and diesel-powered engines at the shop or on mobile road calls. This equipment includes military vehicles, excavators, dozers, skid steers, tractors, and road graders. The purpose for this position is to minimize downtime by accurately diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment in the field. This individual must have experience with hydraulics, electrical, ignition, and drive train systems.
PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform required maintenance, repairs, and thorough inspection of all Vehicles and Equipment Systems.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform high quality/efficient repairs with a "fix it right the first time" approach and perspective.
Perform Quality Control Inspections on Vendor repaired Vehicles to ensure repairs are completed.
Create Estimates and communicate directly and effectively with Service Manager and Parts Department.
Use OEM scan tools and Fleet software.
Travel and assist various shops within department based on workload.
Perform other additional tasks assigned by management.
BASICQUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
Experience: 4 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and lubricating heavy duty vehicles and machinery.
HELPFULEXPERIENCE:
Diesel engines
Mechanic experience
Air Brakes and Hydraulics
Welding
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess strong organizational skills.
Must have the ability to work well with others in a diverse and high-volume environment.
Must move with a purpose in a high-volume environment.
Must have a Valid Texas drivers license to travel to repair locations.
Must be eligible for a Class B endorsement.
