MD Anderson Cancer Center Associate Informatics Analyst in Houston, Texas

KEY FUNCTIONS

Data Management and Reporting

· Provide assistance by delivering information to support various research projects. Integrate protocol research data from various sources and institutional data when conducting analysis and preparing reports.

· Develop novel and maintain existing databases that incorporate data from various research protocols and institutional systems, to generate analysis-ready datasets and reports.

· Consult and assist researchers by delivering data, conducting analysis, and developing reports integrating and utilizing research protocol data and institutional data.

· Utilize query tools (Stata, SAS, SQL, or other), and visualization software (Power BI, WebI, Microsoft Access, Excel, or other) to build and update reports as directed by PI and program leadership.

· Ensure that all deliverables are accurate, complete and contain definitions, sources of data and source data verification.

· Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for research program for data collection (data modules and data dictionaries), narrative description from specifications, and analysis.

· Participate in data quality programs that address work processes that affect the quality of data entered and stored by various institutional and departmental systems.

· Identify data gaps and create new queries and reports to support needs.

· Develops improved methods and procedures for data capture and collection.

· Maintain research data in compliance with sponsor, federal, and institutional rules, and regulations.

· Provide end user support regarding data sources, as well as guidance in the appropriate use of query and database building.

Data Preparation, Analysis, and Presentation

· Clean, preprocess, and wrangle raw data into a usable format for analysis using statistical programs (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, etc.).

· Analyze large and complex datasets using descriptive and bivariate statistical techniques to extract insights and support research objectives (e.g., publications, grants, and presentations). Liaise with biostatistical staff and faculty to facilitate complex statistical analyses.

· Generate visual analytics, dashboards, and ad hoc reports with programs such as Power BI, Tableau, MiniTab. Provide end user support to access and use dashboards.

· Collaborate and assist with PI and senior research staff with preparation of reports and grant requests. 

· Assist researchers to gather initial requirements, analyze clinical data, design, and develop solutions, perform feasibility testing of proposed solutions, evaluate and interpret the results.

Oversight of database activities related to protocol research

· Oversee protocol research database operations. Accountable for high-quality protocol research data; ensure proper training and implementation of SOP for data collection.

· Liaise with principal investigators and provide guidance on issues regarding research protocol databases and data fidelity.

· Assist study investigators in determining the specific database goals or objectives to be attained, track milestones.

· Mentor research staff and provide proper database training.

· Assist with collaborating and managing postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, student interns, and other junior staff to ensure responsible interaction with database systems.

· Attend seminars, meetings, and training to develop and advance scientific knowledge as relevant to job duties.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Healthcare or related field.

Preferred Education: None

Required Experience: Three years of business/finance experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
