Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of the Mortgage Capital Markets team in the United States, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

What You’ll Do:

  • Works on maintaining the existing portfolio by handling clients' requests related to the warehouse facilities, collateral, and customer funding requests. Also draft annual risk reviews and works on internal credit underwriting approvals. Work closely with credit officers to coordinate the requisite reviews by risk management. Work closely with trading team to ensure daily marking of positions and requisite margin call monitoring.

  • Attends due diligence meetings.

  • Reviews daily collateral reports and monitors asset performance trends.

  • Develops and trains junior members of the team.

  • Coordinates a variety of activities with the mid-office and operations teams including the closing of new and existing transactions, daily draw requests, tracking and monitoring of collateral, and providing them with updates or changes to the terms or funding of deals as required.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

  • Prepares pitch books and marketing presentations in support of the mortgage financing and capital markets platform.

  • Assists in structuring, negotiating terms, covenants, and other documentation with borrowers and other third parties culminating in the closing of transactions.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrates sound knowledge of mortgage financing fundamentals, with experience in agency mortgage warehouse lending preferred

• Degree in Business or related field. MBA/CPA/CFA or other industry designation is helpful

• 3+ years banking experience in a Corporate/Commercial lending or related environment

• Prior 2+ years experience in mortgage capital markets / mortgage warehouse financing strongly preferred

• Requires computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiencies as well as excellent written and oral communication skills

• Experience in credit analysis and familiarity with legal document review required

• A high level of commitment and a strong sense of teamwork are needed to succeed in the role

• Roll-up sleeve attitude to support the team and internal stakeholders in a new business build and help where needed

• Ability to prioritize, make timely and sound judgments, and succinctly communicate with senior management

• Effectively liaises with key internal and external stakeholders and other industry participants
