The Department of Psychology at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track positions, at the level of Assistant Professor, Psychology, beginning Fall 2025, within the College of Human Sciences and Humanities.Candidates should have a research interest related to the area of health, broadly defined. One position should have a developmental psychology perspective, the second should have a social psychology perspective, and the third is open to any non-clinical research perspective.This is part of a hiring cluster with five additional positions in clinical and non-clinical areas in Psychology. Joint applications with collaborators will be accepted and should be noted in the individual application materials.

Duties:

  • Teach three courses per semester (Fall and Spring), at the undergraduate and Master’s level, in person-hybrid-or online.

  • Engage in research and scholarly activity that produces publications.

  • Engage in service to the department, college, and profession.

  • Supervise and advise Master’s students, including research supervision of theses.

  • Develop courses and curriculum, and other similar professional activities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Earned doctorate in psychology or related field. ABDs will be considered, though PhD must be completed prior to the Fall 2025 appointment.

  2. Ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, that meets the needs of the department.

  3. Evidence of or potential for effective teaching, including the use of innovative pedagogical strategies, that will meet the needs of students from varied backgrounds and levels of preparation.

  4. Evidence of or potential for mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in various domains (e.g., classroom, research, professional development).

  5. Evidence of or potential for developing and maintaining an active research program broadly related to health.

  6. Evidence of or potential for research and scholarly productivity (e.g., peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations).

  7. Ability to use learning management software, such as Canvas.

Preferred:

  • Ability to conduct health related research, with a focus on youth and/or populations who have been historically underrepresented.

  • Ability to teach statistics and/or courses related to multi-cultural perspectives.

  • Evidence of or potential for generating external grant funding.

  • Evidence of or potential for research collaboration with others at the university or nearby institutions

  • Evidence of or potential for contributing to department, college, university, or professional service.
